Dear Gopalan,
...From Anon, Fri Jun 05, 08:53:00 AM

Dear Gopalan,
The Singapore mass media is doing a wonderful job educating Singaporeans on what to look for in the neighbouring countries, in order to make itself look good.

Remember, Malaysia newspapers are still banned in Singapore.

The way the Singapore govt implements its foreign talent policies and open the floodgates to Chinese nationals demonstrate what happened when policies are rubber-stamped without scrutisation.

That is perhaps the reason that Singapore is in a economic depression currently with manufacturing down a whopping -31% and GDP -11%. (source: ABC.net.au)
The housing price fall is a massive -23.8% (Australia -6.7, USA -16.9) as reported in Knight Frank Newmark Global.

It picked the wrong industry for growth again.

Of course, Singaporeans will not get to hear this. Instead, the H1N1 flu virus is the main news, bordering on fear mongering and the Singapore media will gladly report the jump from 200 to 900 cases in Australia (it is the winter flu season) Perhaps this is Lee Kuan Yew greatest fear - a virus pandemic that will apread to Oxley Rise.

Meanwhile, the Aussie media is giving out more balanced view of the swine flu hitting the country and I feel a lot more assured in Australia because the pollies have no place to hide. The media will squeeze the truth and asking head-hitting questions.

That is the Australia which Lee Kuan Yew look down on.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081742307252789733.post-81999024444242210582009-06-05T12:05:03.429-07:002009-06-05T12:05:03.429-07:00To Anonymous June 5, 8.53am,

I think Singapore's is far worse.Gopalan Nairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15399145588654603667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081742307252789733.post-62871513624060969502009-06-05T08:53:18.700-07:002009-06-05T08:53:18.700-07:00It is difficult to wake up from the "feel wea...It is difficult to wake up from the "feel wealthy" feeling Singaporeans get. It helps that the immediate neighbouring countries have a lower standard of living and worse human rights records.

I was in Singapore when I watched the news of LHL announcements of "changes in the number of NMPs"
As an Australian voter, I am filled with questions on how the PAP govt can claim to listen to the people and improve democracy with such moves.

It does not help that the no probing questions asked, no convincing replies as well.

If this is the pedestarian policies and uninspiring way Singapore continues to be run, its future will be bleak. Singapore politics will be stuck in a time warp where there will be no maverick who dare to oppose "The Sun move around the Earth" theory that the PAP uses to control the island.

Nothing is challenged. You see, the big boy in the compound is none other than Lee Kuan Yew who has got away all these years by flouting the law and every rule in the book. And this includes election rigging.

Moreover, he contols the show, not Parliment. With this senario, the only option is peaceful protest. Peaceful civil disobedience.

This much I know.Gopalan Nairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15399145588654603667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081742307252789733.post-89842738367288187782009-06-01T19:51:10.242-07:002009-06-01T19:51:10.242-07:00Very well said Mr Nair.
The current Singapore is ...Very well said Mr Nair.

The current Singapore is a shame to the region more so because most people do not realize what kind of people are governing the island.

I was a foreign student there in NTU from 1998 to 2002. To cut the story short in the end I was defamed schizophrenic which I fought by not taking medication at all and proceeding to redo my tertiary education in my home country instead and finished it in 7 semester. One of my hobby is model kit building one of which took me 6 weeks to complete each day taking about 6 hour or more. Those alone are proofs that I'm not what they told me to be. I was starved for 3 days while 'under the care' of NUH. Some years later NTU sent me a letter claiming that my [invisible] doctor had declared me healthy to resume my study. So they even made up my doctor as I haven't been seeing one. I'm no fool, by going back I would give these bastards total control of me and even a second chance to kill me. Singapore is one corrupt nation. The world needs to know that.

I always put my name because there's no point of hiding for me.
RenaldiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8081742307252789733.post-84965182742869801382009-06-01T13:40:22.866-07:002009-06-01T13:40:22.866-07:00Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Sin...Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Singaporeans, wake up to reality, please.":

Good Work. Will be better if you can also provide some clear strategies that Citizens and Opposition can use to "beat" these men-in-white. Of course we must use our Vote. What else?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
