A Message to the People of Maldives on Judge G. P. Selvam. You have got the wrong man for the job.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The people of Maldives could not have made a bigger mistake in choosing former Singapore judge GP Selvam to officiate in their National Commission of Inquiry investigating the Coup. He has not been known as a person capable of any judicious impartiality required for such an office.

I have personal knowledge of this man's career as a judge and suffice it to say, it is not something one can be proud of.

I have stated my views in the following video. I hope the people of Maldives re-consider the choice of this man for their own good.

Surprise, surprise, what do you expect from a coup Government.

Commission members were decided by the government. I did not expect GP Selvam to be impartial.

They included Ex-President Nasheed's nominee 'Gahaa' Saeed in the commission after about a dozen rejected nominations only due to international pressure which left them no choice.

From all the video footage obtained and uploaded to the internet, and all the actions of the current government after obtaining power, there is simply no evidence to deny that the ousting of President was indeed a planned coup. There is no honest argument that can be made to legitimize the current government. Which is why the current government is determined to do everything it can to impede an impartial investigation into the coup.

Thanks Mr Gopalan Nair. But unfortunately here in Maldives we have a problem of 40% population being ignorant people who have spent most of their lives in one tiny island totally ignorant of the world outside. They fear any change and want to stick with the devil they know. I guess it is a similar situation in Singapore. Then there is the other 10% religious fanatics who think anything beautiful or enjoyable is haram and so condemned the Nasheed government for making life better for most Maldivians. Anyway, one can hope. Good luck with your cause Mr Nair...hope you succeed.

Well the Singapore Dissident perhaps is not aware that the Justice Retired wasn't nominated by the Maldivian Government. In fact, everything related to G.P Selvam was done by the Commonwealth and he is being paid also by the them.

To Anonymous June 30, 0119,

I am fully aware that Selvam was appointed by the Commonwealth authorities. What I am not aware is whether he did disclose, as he was required to do, the political cases he did for his master Lee Kuan Yew. I am also aware that if indeed he did disclose this, the Commonwealth Commission would have found him unfit to assume this responsibility. And to add to his already despicable career, we can add another one, "deliberately misleading the Commonwealth Commission"

Sir,

You were 100% right! The people of Maldives has found out that Judge Selvam went to Singapore and wrote a report all by himself in Singapore, in which he has declared the coup in Maldives was legal. Now he is demanding Commission of National Inquiry to accept & release his report on 30th August 2012. There are reports that Mr. Selvam was offered a tourist resort in return for this report of lies!!
