Singapore. Fattening the goose for the kill

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A small tiny Singapore island with a tiny population which was just 3 million is in trouble when it determined to become something it is not, by the simple expedient of flooding it with foreigners.

Lets look at a hypothetical example. Take the island of Nauru in the Pacific which may have half million people. It's dictator is determined to turn it into a first world industrial country. To do it, he brings in 5 million Samoans, who look similar to the islanders (he wants to give the impression that they are Naurians), starts all sorts of businesses in the island by importing people from Western countries, compels people to speak Samoan instead of Naurian, destroys all Naurian traditional houses and buildings and replaces them with modern skyscrapers, puts anyone who complains in jail or bankrupts them.

In 5 years time, there are no more Naurians left, or even if there were, they are of mixed breed with Samoan, the language culture and traditions of the Naurians of thousands of years are all destroyed, the people and the country are changed entirely, leaving it another satellite island of Samoa.

This scenario is what is happening today in Singapore. Massive numbers of Chinese from Communist China are being brought to Singapore at such an extent, coupled with the low birth rate of Singaporeans and their fleeing to Western countries to escape Lee Kuan Yew's repression, means that in 5 years time, just 5 years, Singapore as we knew it would have disappeared entirely.

Chinese Hokkien language which has a long rich culture and traditions would have disappeared through Lee forcing everyone to speak Mandarin instead. It is like forcing a German in Europe to speak English, because China is as big as Europe with a multitude of languages, distinct cultures and history.

The colonial buildings, Chinese Malay and Indian cultural and religious traditions are all wasted and destroyed in Lee's mad rush of turning Singapore into something it is not.

Mainland Chinese from China are as different from local Singaporean Chinese as would be a cat to a dog. But whether you like it or not, the crude peasant ways of the Chinese from China, become the way of life for Singaporeans. It demeans and reduces Singapore from being a sophisticated people to the type you see in the streets of Chengdu, the Chinese interior.

I am sure true Singaporeans are being pushed to the limit and anytime soon, I will not be surprised that loyal citizens will not take it much longer. I expect them to rebel, I hope peacefully, but their anger is so great that I fear it may be even worse. Mass peaceful demonstrations is expected to stop the destruction because I do not believe Singaporeans would allow their country to just disintegrate entirely.

Singapore. Lee Kuan Yew's failure

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Any Singapore observer would agree, despite all the embellishments in the state controlled press to make it look pretty, the island today is not only in a very bad shape, it is on a tailspin of decline with any recovery impossible.

For a crowded island of about 3 million native born and another 2 million principally Mandarin speaking Chinese from their Communist country, you already have massive brain drain of locals of as many as 1,000 per year. The rate of marriage has dropped below what it was even in 2009 and is the lowest, the birth rate is even lower than what it was in 2005 and declining further and suicides are at the highest. Foreign permanent residents have angered the Minister Mentor because they refuse to have families in Singapore, and has threatened to revoke their permanent residencies.

You don't need to have a PhD to know the reasons for a seemingly successful nation state to suffer from these happenings. It is because Lee Kuan Yew has failed to understand you cannot make a nation out of minions and secondly, you cannot do it through fear either.

By his own admission Lee has told us that if he was not feared he is nothing. In other words he needs you to be afraid and submit to him. Fear never produced the best results from anyone. Teachers who are afraid never taught well, lawyers who were afraid never were good lawyers and the same with every other occupation. You never got the best through fear, not in Singapore nor in Nazi Germany either.

Second minions as he is surrounded with never made good leaders. Teo Chee Hean, his deputy, is not primarily working for the best of the nation. He is working first to protect his patronage from his master Lee Kuan Yew for the millions he receives and only second does he care for anyone else. It is the same with all the other bootlickers, K Shanmugam his Minister of for Law, Vivian Balakrishnan, who is responsible for the flooding in the island state and the same with his other disgraceful characters.

On the other hand Chee Soon Juan, the opposition politician who has been jailed and bankrupted by Lee Kuan Yew fights for his people. For him demonstrably Singaporeans come first and not his pocket. What Lee needs are men like Chee Soon Juan, true sons of Singapore who will do good for Singpaore, not these butt kissers and bootlickers that Lee Kuan Yew has with him.

Is it too late for Lee Kuan Yew to reverse the damage? Yes it is too late. Civic responsibility is not something you can turn on and off as you please. Singaporeans today are tired of his policies, 52 years of it, that they have switched off completely. Today even if he tried, he is not going to get them out of their indifference and apathy. Remember the 2 child policy of the past. It was wrong. And today regardless of how much he tries there are no children.

Lee Kuan Yew is like a VFR pilot who has flown into the clouds when he should not. Now he is flying blind, lost his bearings and the visibility is getting worse. Either he is going to run into a hillside and crash or he is going to run out of fuel. Either way, it is the end for him and Singapore.

Singapore. Lee Kuan Yew's hopeless struggle to increase the birth rate.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singapore state controlled newspaper Straits Times of June 26, 2011 reports "Marriage: don't wait for stars to be aligned". Chan Chun Sing, a Singapore minister said "Singaporeans should not wait till "all the stars are aligned" such as owing a HDB flat or car, before they get married".

When we read such nonsense, it seems incredible that these Lee minions fail to see what anyone else with any brains can. It is not the car and the house that stops people from getting married, it is the fear, the politically stifling climate, and the uncertainly of living under a dictatorship that prevents family life.

Any Singaporean can tell you that living in circumstances where you are at the complete mercy of the one party state, where they can do anything to you anytime without the law, where your job is temporary to say the least, where you can be fired for no reason whatsoever or even merely for the way you look, in such circumstances, I not only would not want a family in that island of Dr. Moreau, I would rather clear out altogether to Australia if I can.

Singapore is the worst place in the world to be unemployed, and worse, unemployed with children. Lee is bent on his implacable senseless philosophy that no welfare or social security should be given to anyone under any circumstances.

So in Singapore, to state plainly, if you lose your job, you starve, and so does your wife and children. The only way to avoid it is to make a bee line to Lee Kuan Yew's agent in your neighbourhood, stand in line for hours and when you finally see him, go on your knees and grovel, literally grovel for some help.

If you are lucky, you may get something, and if not hard luck. Is it any surprise that the suicide rate, from jumping off high rise buildings, which by the way are all over the island is mounting. Today even parents with their children in a team are reported to take their own lives this way. Terrible indeed.

In this regard, foreigners are much better off than Singaporeans in their own country. Chinese from China, Indians from India and others from other places can merely pack up and return to their home countries where they have extended families, farms and a rural life where they could eke out a living somehow. What can Singaporeans do without money and no help from Lee Kuan Yew, but to take your own life or starve, a choice terrible even to contemplate.

The Singapore employment Act gives no assurance of any permanency in your job. Today you have one and tomorrow you don't. There is worry and anxiety in the forehead of every Singaporean every minute of the day, day and night, awake or asleep. This is an unpleasant stressful life where no one should marry or have children. If they did, they would be responsible for their misery.

Someone should tell these Lee Kuan Yew ministers to stop trying and wasting taxpayers money. No matter what they do, Singaporeans will simply not get married or have children. For one reason, they are reading Singapore Dissident. And they are planning to catch Qantas to Australia.

Singapore. Gangster chiefs beget petty thugs

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just as it was in Nazi Germany, there is one man in Singapore that is everything for everyone, the leader and model citizen, Hitler in Germany and Lee Kuan Yew in Singapore whom everyone tries to emulate. According to Lee, he defeated the Communists, he built the housing complexes, he built the trains, and without him you would not even be here. In other words he is almost God.

We have our doubts of course whether he did all these things as he claims, just as in George Orwell's 1984, people doubted whether Big Brother actually invented the aeroplane, but the troubling part is, his character, which to any normal thinking human being has a great deal to be desired.

He uses corrupt judges to destroy dissidents, gives corrupt favors to his family members by appointing his son prime minister and stealing millions of dollars and claiming it is a salary. In other words a man without scruples who will do anything for power and money; on the whole a very unsavory character, someone who should ordinarily be despised. Not just him but his entire family.

This is where the problem is. His bad character corrupts the entire population. Naturally Singapore mothers wanting a better life for their children create little Lee Kuan Yew's. After all if such dishonesty produced such power and wealth, surely it is the path to success.

That is why today, reading Singapore's state controlled newspapers, there is no shortage of bank robbers, embezzlers, crooks of all nature who steal, cheat and embezzle on a daily basis. It has almost become a country of thieves and nefarious characters. Bank fraudsters and thieves, in keeping with the Lee Kuan Yew philosophy, are dealt with very lightly by the courts even for serious crimes, a mere slap on the wrist. It is almost like saying that since Lee Kuan Yew is the head crook, crooks are acceptable.

Oddly, the ones who receive the short end of the stick are people who in any other place would have been model citizens; educated and intelligent thinking men and women who exercise their right to criticize Lee, but are sent to jail, bankrupted and hounded by Lee's state apparatus their entire lives. Naturally of course many decide to leave the country than take this nonsense.

The average Singaporean today is sadly, a person suffering from uncontrollable avarice and greed, who would take advantage of his fellow man anytime given the opportunity, a man who has no feeling of mercy or compassion and a coward, afraid to stand up for principle.

In other words the average Singaporean has become like their leader, another Lee Kuan Yew.

Singapore. New York Times calls Lee Kuan Yew and his courts, an extortion racket

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I was informed of this New York Times article by a Singapore Dissident reader. Although published by the legendary William Safire in 1997, it is equally if not more relevant in Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore of today, where it is business as usual in the legal dirty work. Thanks to the reader.

Gopalan Nair

The New York Times
SINGAPORE The Misrule of Law
By WILLIAM SAFIRE
Published: June 01, 1997

In Nazi Germany and Communist Russia, dictators used the power of a corrupted and compliant judiciary to cloak with legitimacy the regime's need to lock up, torture or drive out any who dared oppose them.

That same device -- the misrule of law -- is being used today in Singapore. The local dictator, Lee Kuan Yew, has developed his own method of silencing his political opponents and courageous journalists: He has his lap-dog judges condemn critics for libel and assess huge fines to be paid to the dictator and his henchmen.

Here's how the judicial gang operates: A veteran lawyer named Tang Liang Hong had the temerity to run against the ruling party this year. When he mentioned scandalous discounts the dictator received in a real estate deal, Lee and his coterie charged Tang with being ''an anti-English education, anti-Christian Chinese chauvinist.''

As might be expected in a political campaign, Tang denied that and called his attackers liars -- thereby stepping into a libel trap. Lee and cohort sued for millions. When the ''election'' ended, Tang wisely beat it out of town to Hong Kong because he claimed to fear for his safety. Lee & Co. sued him for saying that, too.

When Lee sues, judges jump. His bench socked Tang for $5.8 million for subverting the dictator's ''moral authority to govern'' and, while the lap-dog judges were at it, ordered the miscreant dissenter arrested on 33 counts of tax evasion.

In his 63-page judgment, the presiding judge recalled with pleasure a previous award to Lee of $400,000 from The International Herald Tribune for a piece he claimed suggested that compliant judges were used by Lee to bankrupt political opponents. Tang's ''ferocious and venomous'' suggestion that the Senior Minister lied was worth at least 10 times that.

What we have here is a plain and simple extortion racket. The dictator uses the courts to squeeze opponents for money, or to exact tribute from the Trib, making sure to appoint judges who deliver for him by bankrupting and exiling the opposition. Singapore is a nation-state run by efficient political racketeers professing respect for law and order.

Why should this bother us? The regional reason: Singapore's ultra-orderly economy and anti-democratic politics make up the dangerous ''model'' being followed by China. A broader reason: The Singapore virus -- the notion that capitalist prosperity can be abetted by political repression -- could infect the global economy with its strain of fascism.

Singapore's dilemna, what to do with the Singapore Dissident

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Frankly not I, nor anyone else can say with any certainty whether this blog Singapore Dissident hurts Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew dictatorship, and if at all, how much.

What I do know is this, it is still being read in Singapore, the government there being either unwilling or unable to block it from the island.

I also know from many letters received either from within Singapore and outside that it is adversely affecting their impression of the island; except that as to what extent I cannot say.

Only yesterday, I received an Email from an Indian doctor who had earlier contemplated moving to Singapore. Having made some searches on the Internet, he came across my blog, decided that Singaporeans are a bunch of imbeciles for willingly living in such repressive conditions and changed his mind entirely. This is one man from abroad who took the trouble to write to me telling his plans. Are there thousands of others who have taken similar actions but have not written to me? Perhaps?

Today, Singapore's state controlled newspaper reports that the number of marriages have dropped to a record low, even less than the marriages in 2009, despite all the persuasion and cajoling by the government to entice people to get married and have more children. Has the Singapore Dissident being read in Singapore had anything to do with it, I would never know.

Only a few days ago, the same state controlled newspaper had reported that childbirth had dropped to the lowest ever rate since 2005. Although not reported, I expect emigration rate to have shot up sky high with the numbers of educated skilled Singaporeans depleted even further. Has the Singapore Dissident contributed to one or more of this phenomenon, we would never know.

And no matter what they do now, the pages of Singapore Dissident has been copied and recopied not only in Singapore but throughout the world that any attempt by them to outlaw it now would serve no purpose whatsoever.

Singapore Dissident is determined to undermine the dictatorial government in Singapore and would continue in it's effort towards that purpose. Lee Kuan Yew and his government are of course boiling with anger at what I am doing and are acting in the only way they know, by trying to punish me into silence.

Gopalan Nair of the Singapore Dissident on the other hand simply refuses to be silenced and instead looks forward to provoke Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore to try even further retaliation, except that in this case, all this produces no result since the intended victim lives in the USA, and therefore beyond his clutches.

Regardless of how much or how little Singapore Dissident undermines the Lee Kuan Yew regime, rest assured that it intends to continue and takes pleasure in reading that the emigration rate continues to mount, ever fewer children are being born, even fewer people are being married, the Germans are laughing at Singaporeans, Singapore has been forced to bring another million Mandarin speaking Chinamen from the Communist country to replace the dying Singaporean and the world is laughing at the regime for sending Alan Shadrake to jail just for writing a book.

Gopalan Nair expects to be disbarred in Singapore for refusing to let up on his criticism and he is not allowed to enter Singapore again without permission. But this is not going to deter him from attacking Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore further which begs the question, what else does he have in mind by way of retaliation? Or has he run out of ideas?

Yes, Singapore Dissident continues.

Singapore, a country with Lee Kuan Yew's law, not the rule of law

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A report from, Singapore's state controlled newspaper, the Straits Times of June 23, 2011 titled "More seeking help from MPs" gives us an insight into how Singapore is run; not by the rule of law but Lee Kuan Yew's, the Singapore strongman's law.

This state controlled newspaper report (all Singapore newspapers are state controlled) reads "It is past 1am on a Monday night and Tiong Bahru resident Simon Huey has been waiting to see his MP for over 4 1/2 hours. Encouraged by reports about possible changes in housing policy, the first time HDB buyer thinks he has a better chance of appealing for a flat near his parent's home. Residents like him are behind the surge in numbers at the Meet the people Sessions across the island. MPs say their caseloads has increased by 15 to 100 percent since the general election, with some sessions ending at 4am in the morning!"

In all free societies in the world, complaints against administrative agencies such as housing, employment and state benefits are dealt with under a set rule of laws. For example, a person denied housing relies on the housing code for redress, and if not it's appeal procedure or even to the courts.

This way, every citizen not only knows he or she has equal rights over any other, he or she also knows exactly what the law is as regards any particular matter at any one time. In Singapore on the other hand there are no laws that cover the case of Simon Huey above. Instead he has to appeal to his Member of Parliament and beg for help leaving it entirely to his MP whether Huey should or should not be assisted.

In Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore, instead of laws, there is something known as Meet the People Sessions. This is either a daily or weekly session when aggrieved Singaporeans line up outside their representative's office and beg for whatever they want. These representatives are by the way, by far, members of Lee Kuan Yew's ruling political party.

There may be hundreds of people lined up outside the MP's office this way, one asking for help in changing their government owned apartment, another asking that his dismissal from a government job be reversed, another asking for more money because he cannot afford to feed his family, another asking for his traffic fine to be reduced and a multitude of myriad polyglot of cases and scenarios.

In each and every single case at these Meet the People Sessions, the citizen is reduced to becoming no better than a beggar while the MP is something like a Lord, pleading for help, prostrate at the feet of his MP. Sometimes they are crying, sometimes they are shouting and sometimes they are hysterical. The policemen who are on duty at these miserable places try to keep order, and sometimes arresting the poor citizens who were unable to control their misery, and charging them in court, literally rubbling salt in his wounds.

And there are 81 or more of these Lee Kuan Yew Members of Parliament scattered throughout the island who attend daily these meet the people sessions for the majority of Singaporeans island wide.

Had I remained in Singapore and had ran out of money, perhaps I too would be one among the thousands lining up each day outside Lee Kuan Yew's member of Parliament asking for a handout, a better apartment or something else.

And unlike in democratic countries which are governed by laws which enables anyone to predict one's chances in any case, with Singapore's Meet the People Session, it is any one's guess whether you would be treated fairly unfairly or not at all. It also depends on who you are, what ethnicity you are (Chinese Malay or Indian, with Chinese being preferred) and whether the particular MP likes you or not.

You would recall the little girl (at least she looks like one) Tin Pei Ling being elevated to the position of a Singapore Member of Parliament even though she was only 27 years old. As I did not have many nice things to say about her in this blog, I would reckon that my chances of success for my grievance before her at a Meet the People Session would be zero.

This makes Singaporeans subject to the fancies of Lee Kuan Yew and his Ministers and Members of Parliament, not laws which apply to everyone equally as it is in all free societies throughout the world.

Another reason why Lee Kuan Yew prefers the vagaries and whims of his Members of Parliament rather than a set of laws equally applied is because this way Singaporeans remain beholden to his government and his Members of Parliament. Since ordinary people cannot solve their daily problems through the courts, as there is no access for them, the only way they could possibly do it, if at all is through the mercy of these agents of Lee Kuan Yew.

This makes the average Singaporean beholden to him and his government and theretofore psychologically makes them think that the only way they can survive is through Lee Kuan Yew and his government thereby making sure that only his government would remain in power in perpetuity.

As for the opposition wards, which total six in number, usually their grievances are denied for the simple reason that they are not Lee Kuan Yew government MPS, which clearly leaves them disadvantaged.

With this this sort of reasoning, Lee Kuan Yew will never put into place a set of laws that are applicable to all in matters affecting their daily lives, because having such statewide laws would make Singaporeans independent and less dependant on Lee Kuan Yew. Meet the people sessions enables Lee Kuan Yew to do anything he wants with Singaporeans as they line up each day with their myriad grievances.

Singapore is not a country of laws. It is a place where grievances are settled at Meet the People sessions with Lee Kuan Yew's MPs deciding what you should or should not have. It is a country of beggers, not free men.

Singapore, a country where you say one thing at one place, another at another place

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Any visitor to Singapore would be surprised at a sudden disinterest in anyone, the moment the topic of politics is raised, surprising given the fact that outwardly it seems like any other prosperous Western city.

Remember despite it's outward appearances of normalcy, Singapore has no free press. Just like the Soviet Union, it is all state controlled. The reason why you haven't heard of any protests or demonstrations is not because everyone is happy; it is because these things are illegal. There are no strikes because they are not only illegal, the unions are all controlled, believe it or not, by the state. Judges appear on the outside to be like they are anywhere else, with their robes and books. But in truth Singapore judges are not judges in the true sense, they are politicians in Lee Kuan Yew's party, who destroy political dissidents and detractors by abusing the law.

There are no jury trials, with judges alone deciding. And if the ruling party does not like you, the judge is either promptly notified or they act on their own, and you know you have lost even before stepping into the courtroom. Whenever Lee Kuan Yew or his government charges someone in court, it is certain he is guilty of all the charges, no two ways about it.

Although many Singaporeans disgusted with living under the Lee Kuan Yew dictatorship have left for settlement abroad in Western countries, many still remain in Singapore for one reason or another. Some do not have the skills for settlement abroad or for family or personal reasons remain behind.

Those who remain behind have no choice but to live double lives. Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's dictator who has governed the country with an iron fist for the last 52 years has a large Internal Security Department or secret police, not dissimilar to the Tonton Macout of Haiti or the Mukabarat of Assad's Syria, who mingle among the citizenry listening to what people say, some of whom are then targeted for victimization one way or another. You could say, Lee Kuan Yew rules Singapore through fear just like Syria's Assad rules through his Mukabarat.

Which is why Singaporeans have no choice to live a life, saying one thing in one place and another in some other.

If you were to ask a Singapore lawyer what does he think about Singaporeans having no rights to peaceful protest, no right to free speech and expression, all clear violations of the Constitution, matters which are pertinent to lawyers all over the world, his answer will depend on who you are and where the conversation takes place.

If you were a foreigner and did not know you, or if you were a government official or a stranger, then the answer would probably be either that he does not know these things, he is not interested in the subject or that these laws are necessary because Singapore was small and was good for stability.

On the other hand, if you were a personal friend of his and he could trust you, the answer would probably be that Lee Kuan Yew was a ruthless dictator who has these laws in place to oppress the people, these laws are all wrong, that he hates Lee's party, the PAP and would wish that they would all drop dead the next minute.

It is the same with every other Singaporean. Schoolchildren are told by their parents to say nice things of the Lee Kuan Yew government. In private they would curse this government and the dictatorship that run it sky high.

People either go around silent, avoiding these issues or if necessary saying things that they don't believe in one bit, but politically correct. I guess it was the same in the former Soviet Union, present day China, N Korea, Cuba and Singapore. I suppose a Russian would have praised Stalin even though he personally considered him the biggest criminal.

If you don't like all this, you can if you want leave Singapore. That is what many others like myself have done. Singapore today has one of the highest rates of emigration in the world, the lowest birth rate in the world and a fast ageing population.

Among the population, the majority are no longer local born resulting from the government's policy of bringing in ship loads of Chinese from Mainland China to populate the dying population. These recent Chinese arrivals have nothing to say about these things one way or another since they don't know Singapore.

If you want to live in a country where you can say the same thing any where then leave Singapore, for otherwise you have to constantly do this mental gymnastics to avoid arrest or state victimization.

Especially for your children, if you want them to live in a country where they don't have to say one thing at one place and another at another, then leave Singapore for free country. Having to live a life like this is a terrible thing.

Singapore has no sportsmen

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Have you ever noticed, Singapore has no sportsmen. None has ever become world class or even half way there when it comes to sports. Have you considered why?

This is why. To excel in sports you need passion, just as in any other undertaking in life. You have to love athletics, rugby, sailing, swimming or fencing to excel, just as you have to love medicine to be a good doctor or the law for a good lawyer. But Singapore is a unique place where just passion alone and dedication will not get you there. What you need the most is the recognition of Lee Kuna Yew and his politburo.

In Singapore today, the highest paid people are those connected to the Lee Kuan Yew administration. His ministers, judges, top civil servants are all paid millions of dollars and once selected, they are taken care of for life. George Yeo, the Lee Kuan Yew Minister recently lost his political office but that is no problem. Lee will give him another job which is equally remunerative if not more. He may be made the ambassador in some country, perhaps a job with a government linked company; the possibilities are immense. MH Rubin, a former judge who punished Lee Kuan Yew's critic Chee Soon Juan is now the High Commissioner to New Zealand. Yatiman Yousf the former minister is Ambassador to who knows where and the list goes on.

To put it plainly, every single PAP man is taken care of for life, with a pension and life long job security and a comfortable living. All he has to do is to make sure he remains loyal to the Lee Kuan Yew family.

In this case, is it any surprise that it is every young child's dream and that of his mother to be accepted and recognized by the Lee Kuan Yew ruling family of Singapore because that is the ultimate passport to success. Of course one has to be good in one's studies and get good grades but good grades without the recognition of the Lee Kuan Yew family will not get you very far.

So the characteristics that you see in Singapore young men today would be considered distasteful in any other place, such as sycophancy, fawning, crawling and licking the boots of the Lee Kuan Yew family.

You must have heard of the recent case of a 27 year old woman (in fact a girl if you looked at her) Tin Pei Ling becoming the youngest PAP Member of Parliament. It is quite obvious, her selection and appointment had nothing to do with her ability which no one else had, it has to do with the fact that she had spent 7 years working at the PAP offices in Singapore doing voluntary work and defending every single injustice her masters were meting out to the people of Singapore.

Naturally ever single mother in Singapore is looking up to Tin Pei Ling and encouraging their children to emulate her in the hope that they too would one day be another Tin Pei Ling, that they too would be blessed with Lee's recognition, and milk and honey would flow for them ever after, prostrate at the feet of Lee Kuan Yew and his son.

Singapore does not encourage independent thinking and the pursuit of a goal because one is passionate. Practicing and training long hours at any sport, researching and studying the law or any other science does not get anyone anywhere far in Singapore. But the recognition by Lee Kuan Yew will.

That is why you don't have great lawyers, scientists or sportsmen. But you do have successful men and women who live their lives obedient to Lee Kuan Yew and his government.

But when Lee Kuan Yew abuses the law for their political ends, when they jail and bankrupt innocent citizens because they are political threats to them, when the Lee family practically siphons off millions under the pretext that these are salaries, it becomes shameful for anyone with any honor to submit to them. But that is exactly what every single Singapore mother is prepared to do in the interests of her children.

Singapore produces opportunists, not honorable men and women. Strangely in sports, in addition to dedication and determination, honor is essential, which explains why Singaporeans fail miserably in it.

It is not possible for a Singaporean to be free. You need freedom to achieve greatness. New Zealanders are a free people. They have the world's greatest sportsmen.

Singapore Attorney Generel does not answer

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singapore Law Society had informed me of my Law disciplinary hearings before the High Court in Singapore to be held on July 25/ July 26, 2011. Please see my earlier blog.

Since I had written many more critical blogs here about Singapore and their corrupt judges since my return to the US in 2008 after my arrest and detention there as well as deliberately disobeying their illegal court order prohibiting me of ever criticizing them again, there is a real possibility that I will be arrested and charged again for this if I returned.

I therefore sent an Email to the Attorney General of Singapore stating that I wanted to defend myself at my trial in Singapore in July 2011 and asked him for a guarantee that I will not be arrested again if I returned. (Please see blog post here "Law Society of Singapore, undertaking" June 15, 2011).

The Attorney General of Singapore has not replied to my Email. My assumption is that he does not want me to defend myself at my trial in Singapore. I believe he is afraid that my presence in Singapore and my arrest again would only create even more embarrassment worldwide for them, proving once again that they are an intolerant one party Stalinist state that manages to stay in power only by abusing the law to destroy their critics, their favored tools being contempt of court and defamation actions.

I am still considering whether to attend my trial despite the possibility of re-arrest for my criticism of their regime.

Singapore foreigner population exceeds native born

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The almost non existent birth rate among native Singaporeans, massive brain drain, an ageing population and massive human imports of immigrants from the majority ethnic Chinese population in China has finally it appears taken it's toll. From reliable sources in Singapore it appears today, that Singapore as what we understand it as a country of Singaporeans no longer exists. The foreign population in the island has finally overtaken the local Singaporeans and that fact by itself is driving away even more Singaporeans from Singapore.

I am not sure whether the state controlled Singapore media has published this fact or will they publish it at all if true is doubtful as is the case with most state controlled papers around the world who accept good news only.

But this is something the reader has to check locally which is beyond my ability from California USA.

Even if the signals I have received indicating this are not true, I believe the occurrence of this is not a question of this year or next but whether it is tomorrow or the next day.

Singapore as we understood it no longer exists. It's unique Singaporean culture and way of life is gone. What we have imported with the Chinese human imports from China is the Mainland Chinese way of life. I understand not only that Malays and Indians are unhappy over this but even the local Singaporean Chinese.

What more can I say. Unless and until you are prepared to take the bull by the horns and resist this dilution and destruction of the Singaporean way of life, it is destined the go the way of the Dodo bird.

Singapore. State Sanctioned Racial Discrimination

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Any foreigner being told that Malay Singaporean citizens and Indian Singapore citizens cannot live anywhere they please in Singapore would not have believed it. There is clearly apartheid imposed upon the Malay and Indian minorities even though the Constitution of the country clearly requires equality among the races.

Ethnic Chinese presently form the majority of the population in the small over crowded island city state making up about 75% of the population of 5 million, with Malays making up 15% and Indians about 10%. This ratio is not what it should have been. Let me enumerate below Singapore Lee Kuan Yew government's blatant racial discrimination.

1. The present ratios of majority Chinese with the Malays and Indians making small minorities only was not supposed to be. Lee Kuan Yew an ethnic Chinese favored the expansion of the Chinese race by importing far greater numbers of Chinese from China into Singapore while denying Indians from India or Malays from Malaysia. If this deliberate policy of expanding the Chinese population did not exist, the Malays today would have been the majority with the Indians and Chinese a close second, because generally Malays have larger families. This discrimination against Singapore Indians and Malays violates the Constitution of Singapore which mandates equal opportunity.

Lee Kuan Yew has come out saying he is determined to maintain this ratio among the races and if Chinese numbers decrease, he will bring in more and more from China, which is exactly what he has been doing for decades without any remonstrations from anyone. This is a clear violation of the Constitution as nowhere does it require this or any other ratio. If he wanted this to be part of Singapore law, a major development such as this would have required a plebiscite or referendum before it is implemented. But since Lee runs the island as if it belongs to him, which it is, he does anything he wants, anytime he wants.

2. Malays and Indians are permitted to live in only certain areas of Singapore and are not allowed to lease (90% of apartments in which 90% of Singaporeans live are owned by the Government) apartments anywhere in the island but only at designated places as directed by the Chinese dominated Singapore government. The idea is to spread out the minority population throughout the island so that they could never be able to form a real challenge to the majority Chinese government. This is a form of apartheid against non ethnic Chinese, a violation of the Singapore Constitution. The argument Lee uses for this is that he does not want racial enclaves. But then every apartment block is in fact a Chinese racial enclave. In other words, according to Lee, what is sauce for the goose is not for the gander.

3. The official business language although supposed to be English, Chinese Mandarin is freely used in government offices even when dealing with a minority Indian or Malay. For instance a Malay going for assistance at the Department of Motor Vehicles would be confronted by Chinese clerks discussing his case in Chinese among themselves in front of his face, knowing he does not know a word of it. This is demeaning and insulting to the Malay or Indian. The Singapore Chinese have no qualms doing this as there appears to be a perception about them that they are somehow superior to everyone else, like the pigs in George Orwell's Animal Farm who decided to walk on 2 legs instead of 4. Again a violation of the Constitution.

The government has to decide once and for all what the official language is going to be. If it is English, make sure everyone knows it including the large Chinese human imports thanks to the Chinese Singapore government. If it is going to be Mandarin then send every Malay and Indian to Mandarin language classes throwing in some ethics of what a good Confucian is supposed to be, obedient quiet and kowtowed.

4. Malays are not allowed to be elevated to higher ranks in the Armed Forces. There are no Malay fighter pilots or Generals, Lee's fear being that a Malay would bomb Lee Kuan Yew's house if given the chance instead of the enemy.

5. Malays and Indians should demonstrate and protest their second hand status in Lee Kuan Yew's Chinese Singapore as they are supposed to be equal citizens as anyone else. Lee's government cleverly labels anyone who complains of these blatant injustices as racist and this false proscription of any complaints against racial discrimination has permitted the Chinese Singaporeans to get away with bloody murder as far as discrimination goes. Singapore Malays and Indians should not be afraid of Lee Kuan Yew's false threats and should openly protest about this state sanctioned racial discrimination. After all the country is yours too and the Consitution is violated.

Law Society of Singapore, undertaking

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The following is an Email I sent to the Attorney General of Singapore requesting safe passage to and from Singapore to attend my trial in July 2011. I fear being arrested if I return. I don't expect him to give any undertaking because his government and their courts fear to face me in court. The last time I had requested for this to attend the Law Society proceedings in Singapore, he did not respond.

An undertaking that I will not be arrested if I return to Singapore for my trial in July 2011

To the Attorney General Singapore,

I have been informed by the Law Society Singapore that my trial in professional disciplinary proceedings instituted against me will be heard on July 25/26 2011 in Singapore.

I am living in California, USA. I am desirous of attending the proceedings to defend myself in person.

The charges against me include insulting 2 judges in my blog Singapore Dissident and violating an undertaking given to a judge after I had returned to the US.

As for the charges of insulting a judge, since returning to the USA, I have written numerous blogs in Singapore Dissident which are the same or worse than what I had written in the charge. Second, since I had deliberately defied a Singapore court order not to criticize your judges and to remove 2 blog posts, I stand liable to be charged for contempt of court if I returned to Singapore.

In the circumstances, I request a guarantee from you that I will not be arrested if I step foot in Singapore to attend my trial in July 2011.

I also request a guarantee that I will not be arrested on false charges and imprisoned.

I would like to add that if you fail to provide the requested guarantees, you would be seen as being afraid of facing me in court and would rather proceed against me in absentia as your Singapore Law Society did earlier in these proceedings.

Regardless, I would like to assure you that Singapore Dissident intends to continue writing about the injustices in the Fascist state of Singapore and their kangaroo courts.

Thank you
Gopalan Nair

Law Society of Singapore vs Gopalan Nair

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The following is the defense that I had sent to the Law Society of Singapore in defence to the charges. You notice that I have not wasted much time in answering these, because it is a waste of time.

We are facing Lee Kuan Yew's kangaroo court here and I don't believe kangaroos expect me to write much since they have already decided on the case anyway. Would anybody want to bet otherwise. I say Gopalan Nair will be found guilty and disbarred in Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore courts.

1.As for the first charge that I had uttered abuses to police officers on July 4th 2008in Singapore, I deny the charge.
2. As for second charge that on the same day I had behaved in a disorderly manner, I deny the charge
3. As for the 3rd charge that I had insulted Singapore judge Belinda Ang Saw Ean in 2008, in my blog Singapore Dissident, I deny the charge. It was valid criticism and there was no insult.
4. As for the 4th charge that I had defied an undertaking given to a Singapore judge in 2008, the undertaking was unenforceable as the undertaking was obtained under coercion and duress and therefore without any lawful basis.
5. As for 5th charge in respect of criticism of Judge Judith Prakash for her actions in court in 2008, the criticism was justified and valid.

Law Society of Singapore vs Gopalan Nair, hearing before the High Court Singapore on either July 25, or July 26, 2011

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Reference my long awaited trial in Singapore to have me disbarred, which will be heard in the High Court of Singapore before 3 of Lee Kuan Yew's judges on either July 25, 2011 or July 26, 2011. This is according to a letter I received from the lawyer for the Singapore Law Society who has asked Lee Kuan Yew's court for either of these dates. At this point they have not said who the judges are going to be or in which court number, the exact date or the time, but when I am told more details, I will let you know.

As you already know my disbarment in Singapore is a forgone conclusion in Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore, the only country in the world where you can predict the verdict with 100% accuracy even before you step into the courtroom, that is if you one of Lee Kuan Yew's detractors.

It is good that my disbarment comes closely in the wake of Alan Shadrake's release from jail next week, when the the international outrage for his jailing is fresh in the minds of freedom loving peoples throughout the world.

Rest assured, the criticism in Singapore Dissident for the disgraceful abuse of the law by Singapore's judges such as Belinda Ang Saw Ean will continue before and after my disbarment in Singapore.

One additional consolation for me in all this is giving Lee Kuan Yew's lawyers and judges a great deal of work doing all this. Thank you.

Singapore's problem, noone wants to have children

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singapore's state controlled newspaper Straits Times of June 12, 2011, has the story "More Singaporeans and PRs (new immigrants), yet fewer babies". Although alarming, the story was not unexpected. Last year Singapore had the fewest number of babies born, 37, 492, the lowest record number since 2005.

At this figure, of about 3,000 babies a month, they are not replacing the dying as more elderly die in the island than this figure.

I have mentioned in here on several occasions, just we know, that Singapore has some serious problems which by themselves spell their doom.

As a result of the distaste that any human being would have towards a government that denies them their fundamental human rights such as free speech and expression, a country where the police can arrest you anytime at the wink and a nod of it's dictator Lee Kuan Yew, where there is no rule of law and the courts are routinely used as a tool to eliminate it's political opposition, no one in his right mind would want to make a home in Singapore. It might be all right to come for a few years to make some money but to sink roots there, certainly not.

Singapore is not a country, it is a company and it's owner is the Lee Kuan Yew family.

Why do you think I left Singapore, a country where I was born. Yes, for the same reason. Today no less than 2000 educated and skilled native born Singaporeans like me leave for the West every year. Once there, they bring their friends relatives and others with them. This as you can see is a huge brain drain, a fact that alone can finish off what we now understand as Singapore.

At the same time, of those who stay, because they are incapable of leaving, no one wants to marry or to have babies. Some Indians who are really ignorant of the lack of freedom in the island may have children like this man Kamlesh Kalwar who was reported to have said "Mr Kamlesh Kalwar and his wife Purti, both 29, with their daughter Mihika, nine months. Originally from India, they decided to have children here as Singapore is safe, offers career opportunities and has a good education system.".

I think the man is ignorant of the true extent of what Singapore is. He also seems to be a person who would go anywhere which provides him "safety a job and education". As for education, he would have been much better off in India. And as for safety, North Korea is very safe too. As for career opportunities, Australia has much more but most probably he applied but was rejected, and decided instead on his second best choice, Singapore. If Singapore did not work out, he would have gone to his third best choice, Burma.

I don't think he is a valuable asset to Singapore. At the next opportunity, he is probably going to leave Singapore as well.

The Singapore government is driving their good people out of Singapore, which would be their downfall. And their policies prevent families having any children. But that may be a good happening after all since Singapore can be rid once and for all of the Lee Kuan Yew family and enter into a new beginning.

Singapore. Alan Shadrake's letter to Lee Kuan Yew's Minister for Law

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This letter from Shadrake to Lee's Singapore Minister for Law is a little late but it is posted nevertheless. Shadrake as you know is presently in jail in Singapore because he had the audacity to write a book critical of Lee Kuan Yew's legal system. How long they can continue to send innocent authors to jail because they don't like what the author wrote is any one's guess. Singapore is already looking very silly already.

Thanks
Gopalan Nair

Open Letter to Mr. K. Shanmugam, Minister for Law & Minister & Minister for Home Affairs from Alan Shadrake, persecuted author of Once a Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice in the Dock.

This is in response to a report concerning my sentence of 6 weeks jail and a $20,000 fine for ‘scandalising the judiciary’ published in the Straits Times on 22 April 2010:

For Mr. Shanmugam to claim there is 'vigorous' debate in Singapore about the death penalty surprised me. I have been to several death penalty events over the years and on two occasions the police burst in uninvited and disrupted these proceedings.
His claim that death penalty statistics were officially released in 2009 is also open to question.

I have been informed that a special request has to be made to obtain such statistics along with satisfactory reason for wanting them – and, if approved, the recipient is warned that if the information is passed on to a third party, this would be in breach of the Official Secrets Act!

It is the same as not banning my book in Singapore but tell bookstores to beware of the dire consequences if they sell it.

Regarding the WEF Global Competitiveness Report, which rates Singapore No. 1 out of 133 countries which Mr. Shanmugam’s private secretary quoted in the ST article, is also misleading.

Francis T. Seow, a high-ranking lawyer and member of the PAP until he was accused of being a CIA agent by Lee Kuan Yew and went into voluntary exile, wrote in ‘Beyond Suspicion? The Singapore Judiciary’ published by Yale University and SIRD (one of my publishers) in Kuala Lumpur in 2006 & 2008:

‘The Singapore Courts – when adjudicating commercial cases between two contending parties where neither the authorities nor the political elite are involved or interested – may be relied upon the administer justice according to the law. In this regard, Singapore judges have an overall reputation for the integrity of their judgments.

‘The enthusiastic reports of international organisations such as the Geneva-based World Economic Forum or the Hong Kong based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy, (quoted by Mr. Shanmugam) have to be read subject to this important rider.

‘This book, however, is concerned with the other face of justice in Singapore: where these very same judges, sad to say, in politically freighted cases have repeatedly demonstrated a singular facility at bending over backwards to render decisions favourable to the Singapore government and its leaders.

‘Whereupon their judicial contortions have acquired an international notoriety that concerned human rights organisations, such as Amnesty International, the Genera-based International Commission of Jurists and latterly the Lawyers Human Rights Watch Canada, were moved to send their legal representatives to observe the trial proceedings herein at first hand.

Their observations confirmed what many Singaporeans have known all along: that the political context of such cases invariably influences the judges in their decisions.’

The International Bar Association’s report also condemned Singapore on these and other issues, is available on the internet and worth reading in the context of the charges laid against me. If I have scandalised the judiciary then so has the IBA and its 30,000 members worldwide.

I am therefore challenging the Law Minister and Mr. Lee Kuan Yew that if they and Singapore’s judiciary are so aggrieved by my book he should also sue the IBA and AI in London and Francis T. Seow and Yale University in the United States.

But the reason neither he nor Mr. Lee Kuan Yew would ever contemplate such a step is simple: Mr Lee does not own any judiciary beyond the shores of Singapore.

And attempting to sue Yale and Mr. Seow would be particularly foolish as Singapore has just signed a multi-million dollar deal to establish a campus with the National University of Singapore – a deal which nearly came unstuck because of my arrest.

It must also be noted that the NUS was forced to add a clause to the contract ‘guaranteeing’ academic freedom as a vital condition before it could be signed. How humiliating for the country which constantly claims to be a ‘healthy democracy’ and squeaky clean! But the shamelessness of medieval Singapore knows no bounds.

If Mr. Shanmugam, speaking through his secretary, claims that ‘Political discourse in a healthy democracy does not call for lies, smears and scurrilous allegations’ and that ‘Accusers are required to prove their allegations.

Ministers who are defamed will sue to clear their name and take the stand to be cross-examined, while those who have committed offences will be charged and jailed.”
My answer is to challenge Mr. Shanmugam to sue the International Bar Association, Amnesty International, Yale University and Francis T. Seow in British and American courts for their ‘lies, smears and scurrilous allegations.’

But I don’t think Lee Kuan Yew would dare. It would require the kind of testicular fortitude that, sadly, is in very short supply as far as the rulers of the so-called ‘Lion City’ are concerned!

And if I am ‘scandalising’ the judiciary in this letter as did the IBA, Yale University and Francis Seow, next time why not sue us all in British, American. Australian or Malaysian courts?

It should be fun and create plenty of laughter. Once A Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice in the Dock is now on sale in Australia, the UK and Malaysia – all new and updated! It will make a great musical comedy for Broadway and London’s West End.
After almost seven weeks the result of my appeal will come….who knows when!

Year: 2011

Over the past few decades, investigative journalism has come to mean the kind of brave reporting that exposes injustice, wrongdoing and, above all, the abuse of power. Alan Shadrake’s hard-hitting book cuts through the official silence to reveal disturbing truths about Singapore’s use of the death penalty. From in-depth interviews with Darshan Singh, Singapore’s chief executioner for nearly fifty years, to meticulously researched accounts of numerous high profile cases, Once a Jolly Hangman is an exposé of gross abuses of fundamental human rights. This completely revised and updated edition also offers a compelling account of the author’s arrest and trial for contempt of court for daring to put the Singapore justice system in the dock.

On the first edition:
‘Alan Shadrake has done great service to this country through his investigative work … he has delineated the baseline which any debate about capital punishment has to proceed from’
– Alex Au, ‘Yawning Bread’

‘brutally honest and hard-hitting… it provides a rare insight into Singapore’s highly secretive death penalty cases’
– Megawati Wijaya, Asia Times

‘[Shadrake] does enough to convince even proponents of the death penalty that it is time to reassess the way Singapore handles capital cases’
– Ben Bland, Asia Sentinel

About the author:
Alan Shadrake is a renowned veteran investigative journalist and author whose 50-year career has taken him around the world. His first major book, The Yellow Pimpernels, told the escape stories across the Berlin Wall and was the subject of a BBC documentary. Subsequent publications have examined life in a Soviet gulag, the story of the boy poisoner Graham Young and, with Linda Lee, The Life and Tragic Death of Bruce Lee.
In a move that provoked worldwide condemnation he was arrested, tried and jailed after the publication of the first edition of Once a Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice in the Dock.

Singapore. How the Lee Kuan Yew government run the island.

p.s. This blogpost was Emailed to Singapore judge Belinda Ang Saw Ean's Secretary Patricia See (patricia_see@supcourt.gov.sg) yesterday 06/13/2011. Interesting to see what she will do. Perhaps another charge of contempt of court? If I was charged earlier for the same thing, surely they have to do it again. Otherwise it becomes silly.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In a series of blog posts I have repeatedly stressed what Singapore is, which is nothing but a fascist island state governed personally by the Lee Kuan Yew family. Here I summarize these sad facts.

1. Lee Kuan Yew and his son govern Singapore completely as they will. They are literally a bunch of thugs. Strong words but accurate in this case. Just as Mussolini, Hitler and the Burmese military junta, they are not accountable to anyone but themselves.

2. The Lee family run the island through the collaboration with the judges whom they appoint. The principle tools of Lee Kuan Yew destroying his political opponents is through the law courts.

Today Singapore judges and their courts are a disgrace throughout the world. They have turned themselves into a laughing stock. The principle they adopt is to first target their opponent.

Take the case of the late JB Jeyaretnam. Lee Kuan Yew had to destroy him, because he was becoming a real threat. So through a series of defamation actions and criminal cases he removes him from Parliament and bankrupts him, effectively taking him out of Singapore politics.

Not a single case against him had any merits. They were all fase accusations and charges without any legal basis at all. JB Jeyaretnam was an honest decent man, admired by the citizens. He would have been a great asset to Singapore had he been allowed to take his rightful place in politics.

Another victim of Lee's abuse of the law is Chee Soon Juan. The numerous cases against him which ended up in his imprisonment and his bankruptcy had not a single iota of justice in them. They were all false. Another Lee's victim politically destroyed, through the courts.

There were also Tang Liang Hong, Francis Seow and a litany of victims that Lee destroyed through his legal system, which he uses as a political tool.

3. Lee misuses the Law Society, the Medical Board and other professional bodies to eliminate his detractors. In JB Jeyaretnam's case the law courts were abused to send him to jail. After that Lee used the Law Society to have him disbarred.

In 1998, proceedings were brought against me merely for writing a letter to the Attorney General of Singapore asking for an explanation. I was suspended from practice for 2 years in 1991.

Very soon I expect to be disbarred in the Singapore courts, for among other things, writing a blog post in this blog criticising Lee's corrupt judge Belinda Ang Saw Ean, although my impending disbarment in Singapore actually works to my advantage as proof of the corrupt legal system in Singapore.

4. The most despicable and base human beings in Singapore are Singapore's judges and those who elect to become members of the Attorney Generals Department. His judges and lawyers willingly disgracefully prosecute, jail and impoverish the best among Singapore citizens who feel the need to speak up and help their fellow Singaporeans.

For instance, Dr. Chee Soon Juan is an honest decent human being, in fact a model Singaporean both in his morals and his civic sense of duty. He stands up and fights for the rights of his fellow Singaporeans, while this corrupt dishonest despicable woman, Lee's judge Belinda Ang Saw Ean sends him to jail and bankrupts him while fully aware that he has done no wrong.

Truly, some human beings have no conscience and are a product of the Devil, not God. Belinda Ang Saw Ean is such a woman. I wonder does she have no mercy, no compassion, no kindness in her heart whatever? I shudder to think. Even in a quite moment, does not think of the harm and pain she has inflicted on on an innocent fellow human being?

This is the sort of men and women that Lee has around him to help him remain in power.

5. He uses police officers who do not have any principles or the understanding between right and wrong to go out and arrest those whom he wishes punished, even though they did no wrong, or sometimes only exercising their constitutional rights of freedom of speech, assembly or expression. Chee Soon Juan has repeatedly in the past been arrested by these goons just for exercising his constitutional rights.

6. Lee controls the media which means only propaganda and what he wants to be printed sees the light of day. The opposition is effectively shut out.

7. Lee's makes every fundamental human right in Singapore illegal. In any country, if you do not get redress in court, or if something is wrong in the country, you are allowed to hold a placard and peacefully make your protest known. Lee makes all of this illegal. In other words he can abuse your rights anytime, and not just that, he can can also punish you if you complain. So in Lee's Singapore, you should not only accept any punishment he throws at you, you are also expected to take it without complaining.

8. Today the most dishonest human beings, like those who would have joined Hitler's Gestapo, or the East German Secret Police, join the Lee Kuan Yew's Legal Service, his Attorney Generals Chambers or become judges. Singaporeans already know what a disgraceful job it is, and mothers who care for the morality and goodness of their children dissuade them from becoming lawyers or to join the government. As a result today, there is a dire shortage of lawyers in Singapore, no more than 3,000, which is not surprising to anyone.

9. Elections in Singapore serve no useful purpose as Lee Kuan Yew and his son effectively run the country anyway they want. Every single Minister MP or government servant is beholden to Lee and must obey his orders. If not they woud be removed by Lee's judges through the courts.

10. The only way to bring about democracy in Singapore is through civil disobedience, not through fighting elections. Even if a few more opposition members entered Parliament in 2016, Lee could effectively bring charges against anyone who became a threat to him, as he did with JB Jeyaretnam and have them removed. You are aware that Low Thia Khaing who was in Parliament for about a decade has not done anything substantial at all. The next 5 years and the 5 years after that will be the same too.

11. Dr. Chee is fully aware of the truth of every word I am saying here. In the past he was on the right path by challenging Lee head on with public protests demanding power to be returned to the people. It was not only the right path, it was also the only path to freedom and democracy. My advice is to continue civil disobedience and encourage others to join in.

12. I am confident many in Singapore are not only aware of the truth of what I write here but also know that that is the only way to rid Singapore of this Lee Kuan Yew dictatorship and bring about democracy which Singaporeans are crying out for. I am also aware that very soon you will see protests which will escalate into massive demonstrations island wide which will herald the impending doom of Lee Kuan Yew and Son government. I am sure I am not the only one who can see this.

Singapore. Machiavelli, Lee Kuan Yew and Chee Soon Juan.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singapore Lee Kuan Yew is a complete and absolute Machiavelli. When our friend Machiavelli like his unwavering disciple Lee Kuan Yew picks on someone, that person is doomed forever. There is no possibility of rehabilitation at all. We know his character from what happened to JB Jeyaretnam, Said Zahari and every single one of his detractors.

Chee Soon Juan is one of Machiavelli Lee's targets. He is permanently doomed. He will never be able to have any part in Singapore's politics as long as Lee and by extension his son are alive.

And our Machiavelli does not stop at his victim alone. He has to destroy everything and everyone that is with him, meaning his party and every single one of his members. They have to be destroyed and their chances of political success are all the more stymied.

So if indeed Chee cares for his party, it's members and a hope that his party will some day advance, he has to do the right thing and step down completely. For all you know Tan Jee Say or Michelle Lee may have won were it not for Chee's presence in the party.

So since Chee has decided to do some somersaults away from what we knew of him, by giving up civil disobedience as a tool for political change, in all honesty he should go a step forward and declare that the SDP has rid itself of Chee Soon Juan and his ilk completely, and therefore they now stand to receive the blessing of Lee and his PAP and will hopefully be given equal opportunity to take their places in Lee Kuan Yew's parliament.

If Chee's SDP wants to be another Low Thia Khiang's WP, Chee should go all the way, should he not? Chee's giving up civil disobedience pleases Lee, but that is not enough to save his party.

Singapore. A look at their castrated opposition. Kenneth Jeyaretnam's Reform Party, Low Thia Khiang WP etc etc

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Last time we spoke of the uselessness of Chee Soon Juan's Singapore Democratic Party to the cause of freedom in Singapore is, except that Kenneth Jeyaretnam's Reform Party and others such as National Solidarity Party, Low Thia Khiang's WP (I forgot what the name is of the gentleman who runs the NSP is) has become. To put it straight, these are just simply useless. They are of no use to themselves nor for Singapore.

Kenneth Jeyaretnam has a blog for his reform party. A last check on it shows no activity. He has gone into hibernation for the next 5 years, when I suppose he will reemerge, put up stages in the open, stand on them and make speeches, and if he loses come back in the next 5.

Low Thia Khaing has been elected to go into Parliament with his 5 other partners. I suppose he wants to keep his seat and that of his friends, and his method of doing it is not to ask any questions which is likely to threaten the continued rule of Lee Kuan Yew and his PAP.

So just as in the past decades of his time in Parliament during which he has not managed to bring about even a modicum of democracy for the people who voted for him, it is going to be business as usual for him for the next. He will ask questions about the huge immigration problem, the jobless problem, the CPF problem and other problems.

And after asking them, regardless whether the PAP listens, he will do nothing else. He will not hold protests, demonstrations or any such thing to insist and demand what he wants. He still considers Lee Kuan Yew his master, and he intends to keep his seat in Parliament and the only way to do it, is not to confront Lee head on with questions or actions he does not like; because if he did, he would go the way JB Jeyaretnman did, which is out.

And he is going to insist that his other 5 friends in Parliament play this double game of pretending to fight for democracy but at the same time ensuring that Lee Kuan Yew and his son remain in power because if that continues, by extension, their position too is protected.

The NSP guy has also disappeared, perhaps recovering from a sore throat after he had made all those speeches a whole week in a row.

These men, so called Opposition leaders are neither leaders nor men, simply pretenders. Not a single one of them either has the courage or the ability to do what is right, which is, standing up to the abuse of legal process in the courts to destroy Lee's political opponents, standing up to a state controlled media and demanding that the people's fundamental rights of freedom of speech and expression be returned to them.

I don't mean just articulating these demands, I mean going into the streets and agitating for them until they get it. Please remember, without these rights and freedoms you, as well as Kenneth Jeyaretnam, Low Thia Khiang and every one of these men who claim to be leaders would not be leaders at all. They would be bums as they are now.

Singapore. A look at their castrated opposition. Dr. Chee's Singapore Democratic Party

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dr. Chee Soon Juan is the chief of the Singapore Democratic Party, one of the island's minuscule, marginalized and fractional parties completely under the mercy of Lee Kuan Yew and his son who run riot over their people.

Singapore Democratic party has a colorful and detailed blog the Singapore Democrats www.yoursdp.org. But a more careful look at some of it's contents leaves one to wonder what was the purpose of it all.

Take the recent article in it, "Democrats meets Sembawang residents" June 10, 2011. It criticizes Lee Kuan Yew government's negligence in permitting a murderer to dump a dead body of a woman he killed into the water tank aloft above one of the government residential blocks, resulting in the residents even drinking water from the tank with the submerged decomposed corpse. Truly horrendous but something which could not possibly have been expected by the government.

But what is somewhat strange and inexplicable is the SDP members visiting residents of the housing blocks affected. I am pains to understand what did they expect to achieve by the visits. Merely going apartment to apartment, knocking on door to door, which they appear to have done, and telling them how sorry the SDP was appears to be neither here nor there. We all know that.

And we also know that as the apartments are owned and controlled by Lee's Singapore government, these SDP people are in no position to help any resident, even if they had asked for help. For instance if the SDP wrote a letter in their letter heads, to Lee Kuan Yew's HDB which owns these flats, I can be very sure that instead of they being helped, they would be targeted for victimization and intimidation for their audacity in seeking help from the SDP.

In fact had I been a resident in one of these apartments and Dr. Chee had knocked on my door, I would say thanks of course but since they are not in a position to do anything for me, I would be wondering why they came in the first place. On the other hand, since the apartment is owned by the HDB and Lee Kuan Yew is the ruler, I would receive better results for my grievance through a PAP person than one from Dr. Chee's party.

The article also mentions something which we already know, that Lee Kuan Yew's state controlled newspapers never mentioned anything about SDP's activities in Sembawang and Woodlands areas. Of course they did not. What did they expect, for Lee's state controlled media to give coverage for their arch enemy, Dr. Chee Soon Juan and his party!

Frankly the blog post did not make much sense to me at least.

The next article "Rethinking health care financing in Singapore Part 1" of June 09, 2011, talks about how the health care system has to be improved. I did not read much of it, for one because I was asking myself what good would it do, even if I read it. I might walk away knowing that Lee Kuan Yew's health care system is all wrong, but can the SDP do anything about it? I think not? With the state controlled press I cannot have it published in the state controlled media, second even if I thought it was a marvellous idea and wanted to speak about it openly, I would be arrested and then, if I protested about it I would suffer the same fate.

So I might as well forget about it, and live happily under Lee Kuan Yew as the other 5 million Singaporeans do.

There were several other articles about how they are organizing committees and other very confident sounding future plans about how Dr. Chee's SDP is going to be the party of the future.

All very nice sounding of course, but at this point of time, is all this any good? I have my doubts. I have my doubts because Chee and his SDP do not appear to appreciate that all this is simply a waste of time, if Lee Kuan Yew does not allow the SDP to do anything at all.

For instance they can visit as many apartments as they want but every single one of them is government owned, every single resident in them is either a Lee Kuan Yew employee or is afraid of him, and no one is going to want to waste his time with the SDP because under Lee's Singapore the SDP is not in a position to do anything for anybody. That I am afraid is the unfortunate fact. It is the same with their health care plans, their plans for a fairer and just society and everything else.

Simply put, if they have no access to anything under Lee's Singapore they simply cannot get any results either.

Which brings me back to what I have said all along. Dr. Chee of the SDP should first demand his fundamental rights, which includes an independent judiciary, a free press and the right to free speech and expression because everything else depends on these rights.

And remember, Lee is not going to give it merely because you asked. You have to insist and demand it and prepare to be arrested for it, and stick at it until you get it, no two ways about it.

To put it another way, without these rights, you cannot achieve any of these things.

I am sorry you may not like what I say but unfortunately it is true. My message to Dr. Chee and his SDP is this. Either do these things first or simply stop wasting any one's time. You are not going to get anywhere by simply writing this stuff. You and I know that this is not going to get you anywhere.

You have reached a fork in your political path and now you are compelled to decide which road you want to take. You can take the correct one and demand justice from Lee Kuan Yew or you can waste the time of the residents of Woodlands and mine too, by writing this stuff which is not furthering any one's cause, unless you want to wait another 5 years (the elections) and hope for the best.

I trust Dr. Chee is taking note and reading this. I am not sure who said this but glossy paper and colorful websites will not change Singapore. Only the truth will. And I agree entirely with that sentiment.

Singapore. How Lee Kuan Yew family maintain their iron grip over Singaporeans

Ladies and Gentlemen,

For anyone to think that Singapore is a Parliamentary Constitutional democracy with elections every 5 years with people electing their representatives to speak for them, is completely mistaken. Power does not lie in Singapore's Parliament. It lies with the Lee Kuan Yew family, meaning the father and his son, the Prime Minister.

Lee Kuan Yew wields absolute dictatorial powers over his citizens through his control of the following organs of state.

First, Lee Kuan Yew has absolute control over the courts. His judges are completely at his service, willing to do anything for him. Therefore he uses the law courts to illegally punish his critics, anytime he wants.

And as long as the people are aware that he has these powers, effectively silences them from ever criticizing his rule, because you never know when you may be hauled to court and finished off.

A long list of his political opponents have been destroyed in this manner. Lim Chin Siong, Chia Thye Poh, JB Jeyaretnam and more recently Chee Soon Juan have all been unjustly punished by his corrupt judges who willingly and routinely bend the law to please him.

This jailing, bankrupting and ruining of conscientious and loyal citizens sends a chill down the spine of every single one, preventing them from ever challenging the authority of Lee.

Second, Lee controls the media, which is completely under him. As such, he can bend the news and effectively tarnish the name of anyone he wants through, thereby effectively eliminating his opposition. It is true, there is the Internet now, but the Internet does not usually report on local news.

Third, he effectively violates the Constitution and criminalizes fundamental human rights such as freedom of speech and assembly. This means his ability to violate any one's rights and do anything to anyone he wants with impunity, since if you publicly protest, you will be arrested.

Remember even peaceful protests are illegal.

Today, there is Hong Lim Park, a secluded park, out of the way of the masses, where you are allowed to protest, which by the way is useless and totally ineffective because no one is going to hear you or see you.

What you have to do is to protest at Raffles Place or Orchard Road but Lee Kuan Yew cleverly makes it illegal to do that.

If any political leader anywhere has awesome powers such as these, he should be able to rule forever. And that is why the Lee family has been in absolute power these last 52 years with no problem at all.

I have mentioned Singapore has a Parliament but it is completely powerless. Members of Parliament can say anything they want, but Lee Kuan Yew wields absolute power through the collaboration of his corrupt judges who are ever willing to do anything he wants to anyone anytime.

For example this blog post that I am writing could never be written from within Singapore, simply because I will be arrested the next minute and thrown in jail, fired from my job, my family harassed and punished, and I would thrown literally into oblivion.

This unfortunately is what Singapore is today; totally under Lee Kuan Yew and his son's powerful grip.

Every Singaporean as well as the so called opposition politicians know this. But because Singaporeans have been so long living in fear of Lee Kuan Yew and his family, they are today completely incapable of articulating their discontent openly, because are overcome with fear, they would be arrested and thrown in jail by false charges through Lee Kuan Yew's corrupt judges.

So they pretend to make some noises of discontent about some issues that face the country, such as immigration and the lack of jobs. But no one, not even their opposition politicians dares to ever openly criticise these corrupt dishonest judges because they know that the judges are Lee Kuan Yew's main weapon to polish them off. Criticizing Singapore's judges would absolutely attract Lee Kuan Yew's wrath even though we all know they are corrupt and misuse the law at will; because it is like touching Lee Kuan Yew's raw nerve, his passport to stay in power.

A better way to put is is to describe Lee Kuan Yew's judges as dogs, of the pit bull type. If you criticize Lee Kuan Yew in a way he does not like, or if you criticize these dogs, he will let them loose and you become dead meat the next minute.

One other way good way to draw the comparison is with Hitler's Nazi judges. Criticizing him will cause you to end up before a Nazi judge. The next minute you will be history.

Please don't forget Alan Shadrake who is inside a Singapore jail now as we speak. He made the mistake of criticizing these judges for their bias and their abuse of the law. He was promptly thrown in jail and another message has been sent to Singaporeans warning them of the dangers of ever criticizing them.

Similarly they know that the lack of a free press, the lack of the right to free speech, expression and assembly effectively enslaves them and that is the most effective tool for Lee in his repression over his people. That is why neither Singaporeans nor their so called opposition leaders ever dares to openly challenge Lee Kuan Yew nor his government and demand a free press or protest about anything, because doing so will land them in jail or bankrupt, thanks to Lee's judges.

So as long as the people of Singapore and their political leaders remain in fear of ever demanding these rights, that is, a right to the rule of law, a right to a free and independent judiciary, a right to a free and independent press, the right to free speech expression and assembly, they will forever remain at the complete mercy of Lee Kuan Yew and his family. They are not a free people, but one that lives at Lee Kuan Yew's pleasure.

Singaporeans have to remember that Lee Kuan Yew is not going to let you have these rights simply because you ask for it. If you want to get any of this, you have to protest and show that you are prepared to die for your rights and will not let up until you have got it.

But as long as Singaporeans as a people and their political leaders such as Chee Soon Juan, Low Thia Khiang, Chiam See Tong and the other gentlemen who surround and support them, continue unwilling to demand these primary rights fundamental to any other democratic demand, Singaporeans and their these leaders will continue to be ruled over by Lee Kuan Yew absolutely, leaving them no better than slaves.

There is really no point in today's minuscule opposition politicians going out there and talking about Singapore's flooding, massive immigration, unemployment or anything else. Remember it is Lee Kuan Yew's country, not yours. You are allowed to talk about anything you want. But if you tried to pick on his judges who you know are corrupt, if you try to pick on his control over the media or his right to jail you if you spoke in public, you are in for a serious trouble.

That is when Lee Kuan Yew and his son will come at you like a pit bull and finish you off.

Lee did not make a mistake some 50 years ago when he called Singaporeans "digits". He really meant it. You are indeed one today, no better than a mere digit. And you should be ashamed.

Let me tell you this very clearly. As long as Lee Kuan Yew has these corrupt judges who can make a saint a serial killer the next minute at the click of his finger (remember the late JB Jeyaretnam), you are all doomed to a life of being nothing better than slaves, which you are.

I am not sure if you saw it but I did. This recent elections, Lee Kuan Yew's PAP appeared to look worried that they may lose some constituencies and they even made several statements proclaiming their fear. In fact, I could see that they were not afraid at all. I could see it in their faces. It was all make believe. They were just pretending to be afraid of this to give the impression to the world that these were free and fair elections. In fact the elections did not matter one bit. Who won or who lost did not matter at all. As along as the Singapore's judges and the press are under their control, and as long as the people are not allowed to protest, they will continue with their absolute control over their citizens. They know it and we know it.

Shame on you Singaporeans. Shame on you opposition politicians and every other person in the island who calls themselves opposition leaders, shame on you. You are simply sitting idly by permitting Lee Kuan Yew and Sons rule over you.

Please don't deceive yourself by thinking you are opposition leaders. With leaders like you, who needs dictators.

Looking at Singapore, it will continue limping under the iron grip of the Lee Kuan Yew family. You may have your jobs, a TV at home and some time with your family at Changi beach on the weekends but remember, Big Brother is watching you and make sure you tow the line, otherwise the clanger.

This blog post may not have persuaded anyone in Singapore from either challenging Lee Kuan Yew and you will probably continue another 100 years blissfully under Lee Kuan Yew's absolute rule, if that is what you want.

But remember, this blog post is being read by Singaporeans throughout Singapore today and it will also be read a 100 years from now. But sooner or later, you will be able to judge whether what I say today had made any sense.

Singapore. A people in denial

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singaporeans it seems are either in complete denial or simply ignorant of their situation.

Singapore's state controlled newspaper the Straits Times of June 08, 2011 reports "Restless youth seek anchor in politics", in a discussion forum held at the Orchard Hotel recently organized by Singapore Lee Kuan Yew's Institute of Policy studies representatives from local political parties discussed the needs of Singapore youth before an audience of 250.

Leaders of these Singapore's minuscule castrated opposition parties felt that the youth needed to take part in politics as a means of rooting themselves in Singapore, as if that was a momentous earth shattering revelation!

Desmond Lee of Lee Kuan Yew's ruling party and the recent phenomenon Michelle Lee of Dr. Chee's SDP appears to have stated the obvious that the youth have grown up in a stable Singapore (so is Communist China) and they are deeply affected by world events (who would not be if they are literate and the Middle East is boiling).

Yaw of the WP on his part stated something which is of no use to anyone, that the youth were "restless" and that "they were searching for their place in Society where their aspirations can be fulfilled". Thanks for telling me that, as if I did not know and even if I did, does it really matter one way or another?

From what these so called Singapore's leaders have to say, it is simply a waste of time. Inconsequential nonsense. Singapore has much more urgent problems to be addressed and by leisurely saying that the youth are restless is not helping the situation at all.

Let me tell you what you already know.

Singapore today suffers from an abuse of the law by compliant judges who send innocent people to jail, bankrupt them and send authors like Alan Shadrake to prison, where he is now, just because he wrote a book critical of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew legal system.

This corrupt politicized judiciary is a curse on Singapore, almost a crippling malignant decease, which stifles it's development turns Singaporeans into slaves. Lee Kuan Yew can anytime send any critic of his to jail and misery, merely by deploying his judges who willingly bend the law for him.

Without the rule of law, there can be no development of the nation at all. This is the most serious problem facing Singapore and correcting it is something that the government must do, something which is not negotiable as far as Singaporeans are concerned. Yet these Singaporean opposition have nothing at all to say about it.

Singapore does not have a free press because it is all state controlled and censored. This is another debilitating problem facing the people of Singapore which has to be corrected before anything else. Yet these Singaporean so called opposition leaders have no comment at all.

The same with the serious fundamental issues of the lack of free speech, assembly and association; serious violations of human rights which are at the core of Singapore's problems, preventing it from aspiring to become a democracy. Yet Michelle Lee is content to say that Singapore youth is restless! We should ask her whether that is all she has to say!

These opposition politicians should have the courage at least to be honest, honest to themselves and to Singaporeans. There is no point for them to claim a leadership role, when it is quite obvious that they are afraid to confront the Lee Kuan Yew regime on these issues that are fundamental before anything else, as nothing else can advance if these crippling problems are not settled.

The sad situation in Singapore even after the recent elections is this. Singaporeans are either in denial or completely unaware of the serious problems under which they live, literally a dictatorship without any rights. And without rights, there is no point in talking about other issues such as immigration, flooding or anything else; because if you can be shut up anytime and sent to jail by Singapore's corrupt judiciary, like what British author Alan Shadrake is now undergoing in Singapore, Singaporeans are doomed to continue at the pleasure of the Lee Kuan Yew family.

These fundamental violations of the erosion of the rule of law and denial of fundamental human rights are not issues which Singaporeans can merely complain and sit patiently by, waiting for Lee Kuan Yew to correct them. These are issues which should be demanded and protested, and there should be no let up until the government finally concedes. These are issues which demand relentless sustained civil disobedience until your rights are fully restored. If you are not prepared to do that, then you will simply continue as you were the last 52 years; that is at the mercy of the Lee Kuan Yew family.

I suspect, from the actions of these recent additions to the opposition, Oxbridge and London educated people such as Michelle Lee of Dr. Chee's party, that they are the latest of Lee Kuan Yew's tricks to infiltrate the opposition ranks, which are already weak and ineffective.

Lee's cunning idea this time appears to be to give the impression that there are capable people speaking for the opposition now; except that these "capable" people who are PAP in disguise, are only going to skirt the issues by raising issues of inconsequence but who will not really confront the Lee Kuan Yew family where it really matters.

Chee Soon Juan whom I previously admired, and still do I must add, was the champion for democratic change in Singapore by his willingness to truly and fearlessly confront the Lee ruling party where it matters, on fundamental issues such as basic human rights, appears to have had a change of heart and now appears to go along with the flow, content to raise issues such as the economy, but unwilling to proclaim that the economy cannot go anywhere unless the people had the rule of law, a free press and the right to free expression.

If I am right in believing that Chee has now decided that the best thing to do is to get into Parliament by carefully making sure that Lee Kuan Yew or his Son are not offended, by raising only secondary issues but leaving alone fundamental human rights, he might as well go one step further and resign his position as Secretary General of his party entirely, since there may be a general perception among the Singapore populace that he is the main impediment, given his past of civil disobedience, to his party's advancement.

Of course I don't believe that he should step down or do any such thing.

But I am only saying, as the Devil's advocate, that if he is going to moderate his actions for the sake of expediency, which I believe is wrong in principle, he might as well go all the way and step down for the sake of his party and allow Tan Jee Say, his recent colleague who actually criticised him for his past in civil disobedience to step into his shoes.

Another possibility, Michelle Lee, the London graduate since she too does not believe in confronting Lee Kuan Yew with peaceful protests to demand fundamental human rights. She appears content to tell us that the youth are restless!

All round, a very sad time for the cause of freedom in Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore.
