Good video Mr. Nair! Actually much better than your last one, no longer camera-shy, are you? Also better structured and very well argued!
Your arguments are quite strong and Singapore will definitely experience change not too far away, but I personally don't think it will come with Lee Kuan Yew dying, because as Barr showed in his new book, the inner core of the elite and the familee will probably hold together. And since when would they care about what the people think, they have ISD. But we'll see.
I would rather guess change will come from the total economic dysfunctionality of the system. This policy of growth through immigration just can't last forever in a tiny island. Even the IMF is already suggesting Singapore has to change it. Another point is that each and every "ideological" element in Singapore is just pure bullshit (as you mentioned) and most Singaporeans are great at defying reality, but at some point they'll just have to accept that all that talk about meritocracy and multiculturalism has absolutely no substance in reality.
Also I think you are a little unfair to the Chinese, because there are thousands of protests in China every year. In a way they a more democratic than Singaporeans. And look at the first "strike" in Singapore after decades, it was done by mainland Chinese, because that's how they do it back home.
The "confucian" elites and their western apologists will be in for a surprise, well if that's not something!

I would be happy already, if Singapore
abolished physical punishment,
which is a big shame in the 21st
century. By the way:
Who will inherit all the wealth
and money of LKY?

Thanks for the applause. But you are wrong about the Chinese "protests". It is true that in China there are protests as often as perhaps one every 8 minutes.

But the protests are not about what you think. They are entirely economic, bread and butter, or in the case of China, their rice bowl. The protests are about working conditions, low pay and the Peoples Liberation Army ripping them off. It is not about free speech, expression or the most fundamental thing, the right to vote, which they don't have.

Hong Kong is different, but Chinese are an obedient bunch.

Not the case of not giving them credit. They don't deserve any. They are still living under the Chinese Emperor, or today the Chinese Communist Party.

But thanks for your comment.

Gopalan, you are spot on when you say the Chinese grievences are over bread and butter issues.

Take Singapore for instance. The political party that is wildly popular with the confucians is the Worker's Party. Under Low the party has become an insult to any thinking Singaporean's intelligence much to the PAP's delight and good fortune. With opposition like this there is simply no room for SDP or NSP. Even more importantly for a revolution to take hold.

The WP does not believe in freedom or liberty like the PAP either. In fact, Low advocates "Asian democracy" like LKY. Yet the confucians hold out hope for the WP in vain. Perhaps the reason why the PAP imports PRCs by the plane load to maintain the racial balance or more adept the stupidity quotient.

It is depressing really and perhaps why the brain drain ia rising exponentially and MNCs having to source talent overseas from India and Phillipines.
