Singapore. Lee Kuan Yew's hopeless struggle to increase the birth rate.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Singapore state controlled newspaper Straits Times of June 26, 2011 reports "Marriage: don't wait for stars to be aligned". Chan Chun Sing, a Singapore minister said "Singaporeans should not wait till "all the stars are aligned" such as owing a HDB flat or car, before they get married".

When we read such nonsense, it seems incredible that these Lee minions fail to see what anyone else with any brains can. It is not the car and the house that stops people from getting married, it is the fear, the politically stifling climate, and the uncertainly of living under a dictatorship that prevents family life.

Any Singaporean can tell you that living in circumstances where you are at the complete mercy of the one party state, where they can do anything to you anytime without the law, where your job is temporary to say the least, where you can be fired for no reason whatsoever or even merely for the way you look, in such circumstances, I not only would not want a family in that island of Dr. Moreau, I would rather clear out altogether to Australia if I can.

Singapore is the worst place in the world to be unemployed, and worse, unemployed with children. Lee is bent on his implacable senseless philosophy that no welfare or social security should be given to anyone under any circumstances.

So in Singapore, to state plainly, if you lose your job, you starve, and so does your wife and children. The only way to avoid it is to make a bee line to Lee Kuan Yew's agent in your neighbourhood, stand in line for hours and when you finally see him, go on your knees and grovel, literally grovel for some help.

If you are lucky, you may get something, and if not hard luck. Is it any surprise that the suicide rate, from jumping off high rise buildings, which by the way are all over the island is mounting. Today even parents with their children in a team are reported to take their own lives this way. Terrible indeed.

In this regard, foreigners are much better off than Singaporeans in their own country. Chinese from China, Indians from India and others from other places can merely pack up and return to their home countries where they have extended families, farms and a rural life where they could eke out a living somehow. What can Singaporeans do without money and no help from Lee Kuan Yew, but to take your own life or starve, a choice terrible even to contemplate.

The Singapore employment Act gives no assurance of any permanency in your job. Today you have one and tomorrow you don't. There is worry and anxiety in the forehead of every Singaporean every minute of the day, day and night, awake or asleep. This is an unpleasant stressful life where no one should marry or have children. If they did, they would be responsible for their misery.

Someone should tell these Lee Kuan Yew ministers to stop trying and wasting taxpayers money. No matter what they do, Singaporeans will simply not get married or have children. For one reason, they are reading Singapore Dissident. And they are planning to catch Qantas to Australia.

GN: "The Singapore employment Act gives no assurance of any permanency in your job."

You are wrong!

Look at Lee Kuan Yew, who via his judges, the ISD, gerrymandering, always keeps his job.

Look at Lee Kuan Yew's daughter-in-law, who despite making extremely poor investments, still keeps her job at Temasek.

Look at Lee Kuan Yew's number one son, who floods the place with FTs despite opposition from Citizens; who can't stop a simple shower from causing floods; ... still keeps his job.

Does anyone in the PAP dare challenge Lee Kuan Yew's son, despite his bungling of the last election.

So, you can be a maladroit in Singapore, but as long as you have the dictator's blessings, you will keep you job.

To Anonymous Jun 26, 0715,
Thank for the tongue in cheek approval. But remember, the employment act does not apply to any of the the individuals you mentioned. They are above the law. They can do anythng they want. As far as the average citizen is concerned, I suppose including you, the Act gives no protection at all. Admit it now. I am right.

Mr. Nair, what are your thoughts about Dr. Tony Tan's intention to run for the Elected Presidency in Singapore?

Typical naif from Singapore. Why don't you tell us what you think and then solicit others' opinion.

See how well they have been trained by Lee Kuan Yew.

Dear SG Policy Makers,

I am going to give you a suggestion for free. If you want birth rates to go up, eliminate streaming in schools. Don't muck around with kids feelings at an early age. I grew up vowing not to put my kids through this humiliating process. You might have a myopic view but it shapes the lives of the people who form the fabric of your country.

The true test of meritocracy will be evident when you eliminate streaming in school.

See what the Scholars are doing to SG - Short term policies, policies that only work while they are holding that portfolio or office.

Young people would like to get married and have kids only if you provide them with a conducive environment. An environment that promotes respect, trust and empowerment. This is common sense and I don't have to be a scholar to tell you this.

I am sure the scholars know this but maybe it is all prefabricated to put the SG people through what they have gone through or are going through at present. Either way, it is going to come back and bite you.
