Redwood City, California, April 24, 2007 and Admiral Lui Tuck Yew

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I had asked Singaporeans in the San Francisco Bay Area to boycott the dinner meeting with Rear Admiral Lui Tuck Yew to protest the unlawful and unjust raising of salaries to unprecedented levels never before seen in any country in this world, and which was against the will of every living Singaporean.

I had pointed out that in every city in the world, overseas Singaporeans by and large have refused to co-cooperate with any function organized by the Singapore government because they all left Singapore because they refused to live in a country which had become totally authoritarian.

I therefore predicted that this meeting especially with the Rear Admiral Minister for Education would have very few takers. I am unable to state with any accuracy as to the number of people who had attended but my reckoning is that not more than 50 or so Singaporeans attended together with other nationalities according to the information I had received. I myself was not there. My calls to Miss Lea Chan, a member of the staff at the Singapore Consulate General went unanswered and my attempt to contact Clara, the Manager at Sofitel also failed. Clara said the organizers did not want any information to be revealed. All this indicates that the function itself was an abysmal failure and as usual, a total waste of your taxpayers money in organizing such an lavish function for Singaporeans when they have shown very clearly that they will not attend.

Lee swaggers around with his pomposity and arrogance, trying to say that he alone knows everything, but why does he not know this? Lee's recent attempt here in San Francisco and last week in New York was to try to get overseas Singaporeans interested in Singapore, hoping perhaps that they will return to live and work in Singapore, as there is now this unstoppable brain drain, resulting very soon in Singapore not having any educated people at all, not counting the mediocre foreign talent.

Let me say this to Lee very clearly. Overseas Singaporeans will not return full stop. They have left in disgust at what Lee has done to their country so much so that it became intolerable for any educated proud self respecting human being to consider that country home. They do not like living in a country governed by you and your son. That is why they left. They are not coming back. So don't waste any more of tax payers money in this effort to make them return. You are looking more silly in their eyes.

Roger Liew, Lee's representative in the San Francisco Bay area commissioned for this work has failed. There is no point in paying him anymore money.

It is like this. There are 3 kinds of Singaporeans. I am not talking of foreigners. Firstly there are those with little education and skills. Not having much education, they are not aware of their rights. They are not aware that Singapore belongs to them as much as Lee and his family. They are unable to see that they can insist on their rights and no one can compel them to accept what they refuse. These will remain in Singapore. They have nowhere to go. They are the security guards, the hawkers, and the bus drivers. These cannot be leaders. They serve a purpose but they are not the brains.

Then there are those with an education but lack principles and high moral ground. These can be bought with money. These are the ministers, the top civil servants, the judiciary, the president of the Law Society, Lee's Indian attack dog to abuse the law to bankrupt political opponents (Lee's turbaned defamation attorney), the Indian head of the Singapore bankruptcy office and other similar dishonest characters. These will stay behind because it is profitable. But they do not have good moral principles and good moral upbringing. They are dishonest. But Lee can only find characters like this to serve him, because only the dishonest like these are prepared to do dirty work for dirty money.

Then there are those who leave. These are the best educated in Singapore. They leave because their education not only gives them wisdom but also makes them into better human being beings. These highly talented educated people are able to live and work anywhere in the world because of their skills and qualifications. And most of these skilled people also have better characters and principles. They see before their very eyes, how the law is abused against Mr. Jeyaretnam to bankrupt and finish him off. They see how Dr. Chee is repeatedly punished and bankrupted totally without any legal basis, simply because he dares to question Lee. They see Mr. Tang Laing Hong chased out of the country with all his money robbed from him, making him penniless by the corruption of the judiciary.

They realize that the law is no longer impartial in Singapore. They see Lee and his family and cronies concealing the millions that they may be siphoning off from government related companies since Lee is not prepared to account for the income of these government listed companies, which he keeps secret.

They see that government supporters are being rewarded while others are left behind. In other words, they see a country where the only way to succeed is to carry a PAP Party membership card and kowtow absolute obedience to Lee. This they are not prepared to do. This they will not do. You see, these educated who leave want to be safe from Lee's arbitrary actions. They want to have a say in the government and not merely leave the governance to Lee and company. They too say that they have a head on their shoulders just like Lee has one. Why should they not be able to have a say in government. They want their children to grow up as proud individuals, not poodles who grow up in fear of Lee and family.

In the west, they feel a sense of importance. They are consulted when the government wishes to build a mall somewhere, a school somewhere, a road somewhere. They are consulted because they are citizens and taxpayers. They too have rights. Their children grow up independent and proud, honest and principled. Not like Lee's son who does not have any. Singaporeans overseas are very happy. They feel that the best thing they ever did was to emigrate. And they will not come back. The proof is in the pudding.

Your Singapore Straits Times may lie and say 6000 Singaporeans attended Singapore Day in New York Central Park. But we know what the truth is. After all your newspaper is the 148th rating, same as North Korea. A handful of Singaporeans did attend. But not more than that.

The Straits Times has grandiose news everyday. Singapore has the best Mass Rapid Transport system. Singapore has the best traffic system. Singapore has the best theme parks. Singapore is a beautiful garden. Singapore has the best standard of living. Singapore has signed a deal with China on technology. With India on aerospace. With Bulgaria on wrestling. With Nepal on mountain climbing. Singapore has trillions of dollars. Singapore has this. Singapore has this. Singapore has that. Singapore has blah blah.

But for the overseas Singaporean, they say still not good enough. You see, man does not live by bread alone. Lee can arrange for all the goodies that he can in that island. But as long as the Singaporean in Sydney cannot decide on what Singapore should and should not have, he will not return. He is not prepared to be a "digit" as Lee once insulted Singaporeans. Lee can do all that he wants and more and enjoy it with the foreigners and the local Singaporeans who are unable or incapable of questioning.

In short, overseas Singaporeans will not return to Singapore as long as Lee and his son strut around in their island like a pair of prize roosters, who think only they know everything and others are no more than peasants. Sorry we are not peasants. We refuse to return. I suggest you should read Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World".

The famous Patrick Henry had said "Is life so dear or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death", March 13, 1755.

Can I make a small change in the last sentence for Singaporeans? They have said instead, "Give me liberty or let me leave Singapore".

Channel News Asia has lived up to it's reputation as nothing more than propoganda. Lies lies and more lies.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am referring to the Channel News Asia report by Nathan King dated April 22, 2007 "Overseas S'poreans flock to inaugural Singapore Day in NYC". Don't believe a word of it. It is one big lie. Nathan King has spun up a big story. It is nothing more than his imagination.

It is like this. New York Central Park as you know is a public park. Anyone can go there. What Lee Kuan Yew did was to spend your tax payers money, lots of it, and hired American contractors paying them lots of money (yours), to erect a lavish looking stage in the middle of the park, which was open to the general public, and gave out free food to any member of the public who wanted to eat (paid for by tax payers like you). Please note that the spot for the event in the public park was not sequestered, meaning anyone, including American Australian and Mongolian, never mind Singaporean, could come and go and eat all the food they want and stand wherever they want.

Naturally they got a big crowd. Who wouldn't want to eat free food, tell me? But the big crowd were not Singaporeans. They were Americans who happened to be there, being a weekend, at the park. There might have been few Singaporeans but they could not have been more than a handful. If you look carefully at the picture provided in the paper, most of the faces are that of Americans. I could not find any Chinese face among the crowd, except of course that of Wong Kan Seng speaking to a Chinese man and woman.

According to Mr. King, the writer, he claims that there were 6,000 people there and Wong Kang Seng met them personally. I suppose there could have been more than 6,000. After all it is Central Park New York on a weekend! And what is more, there was free food for all! But the question is how many Singaporeans were there among the general American public in the park.

This is classic Hitlerian propaganda at it's best. And I doubt even Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda minister could beat this lie, making it look so real.

Of course, since you are not in Central Park, you could not have known this lie one way or another, unless someone from here points this out to you. And I have been glad to have been given the chance.

My answer to Mr. Wong Kang Seng is this. Don't count on it. Singaporeans have left Singapore because they could not stand people such as Wong Kan Seng who refuses to allow people their fundamental human rights and their liberty. Where he has made Singapore into a police state so much so that you may need a police permit, almost, even if you needed to wink! Try to get it into your head Mr. Wong Kan Seng, that people who leave Singapore are smarter than you think. The people who are prepared to live in Singapore other than freedom fighters like Dr. Chee Soon Juan, are those with little education, who do not know their rights. Had they a better education they would have left too. So, Mr. Wong, I am sorry to tell you that Singaporeans who have left will not return to your Alice in Wonderland Police State. And at the same time, more and more people are leaving the shores of Singapore each day to supplement those already abroad.

And finally the number is not 6,000. If you subtract the Americans who came to spend their time at the park on the weekend and those American passers by who came to try free Singaporean food for the first time, the actual Singaporeans there would have numbered not more than 40. Not 6,000 as Mr. King claims.

Mr. King, the writer has used a great deal of imagination in conjuring up the number of 6,000 and Singaporeans coming from Canada and California. Good thing, he did not suggest that Singaporeans had flown from all over Europe to come to Central Park New York that day!

Lies, Lies and More Lies. But in the end, it will not work. You see, Mr. Wong, all over the world, Singaporeans have said good riddance to your police state. Unless you give them their human rights, they will get their education in Singapore and be on the next plane to Perth, Sydney, Auckland, Toronto or San Francisco.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In my last post, "Redwood City, California. Boycott the meeting.............." I had said most overseas Singaporeans are discouraged and disinterested in Singaporean affairs. Here is the evidence.

Roger Liew, the Singapore government PAP representative in the San Francisco Bay Area is in charge of an organization, "Singapore Connect" for trying to garner the support of overseas Singaporeans to maintain connection with Singapore, as the Singapore Lee Administration, faced with massive emigration of Singaporeans is hurting from this brain drain.

Singapore Connect's web address is http://sgconnect.ning.com/. You will see, it has a grand total of no less than 128 members! Mind you, the San Francisco Bay Area has about 50,000 Singaporeans at least. If you are shocked in disbelief, let me tell you the figure again. Roger Liew's Singapore Connect has a miserable total of only 128 members! But wait. That is not all. Of this grand total of 128, half of them are hiding their faces, the other half of them are not giving their real names, and sections of them have pictures, not of themselves but of dogs and cats, many of them do not give any information at all, and almost half of the total are foreigners. Of the entire grand total of 128 miserable members, you could say that perhaps 40 are from Singapore and that, mind you is only a guess, since they are hidden!

If the question is why, I am sure the answer is quite obvious. I think it can be best answered this way. Had you been from Burma, Myanmar as the cruel military junta calls them, would you be happy to join an organization associated with that regime, or would you, being in America, say thank God and good riddance to that dictatorship? Would you not try all means to stay as far away from that regime, out of shame by reason of association? Well it is the same with Singaporeans overseas.

In the Singapore Connect members, you see that almost all of them do not show their faces, many of them use false names, almost all of them do not wish to state their nationalities and do not reveal information about them. They are all trying to conceal themselves. In Singapore, it is common practice, unlike other democracies, for people to be afraid to reveal their identity when expressing their opinions on matters public. They fear the wrath of the PAP if one is identified as a political opponent, just as in Burma. This may be understandable, as Singapore is an authoritarian dictatorship that is intolerant of dissent.

But why hide your faces in California? I am not hiding mine. What is there to fear from Singapore while in the USA! There could be more than one reason. Firstly, some of these might be harbouring an intent to return to Singapore in which event, Lee may come after them had they said anything amiss, even inadvertently. Second, they may be ashamed of being associated with that dictatorship. Third they may see some business benefit by membership, but at the same time, are ashamed of being identified with a pariah state like Singapore.

Whatever the reasons for remaining incognito, it is a disgrace that Roger Liew has managed to get only 128 hidden faces to join his Singaporean organization. It proves what I had said. This pathetically low membership, among a Singaporean population of 50,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area, proves my point. Singaporeans by and large do not wish to have anything to do with the Singapore PAP government and their multi million dollar ministers, who imprison, torture and bankrupt political opponents and silence them with defamation actions.

Singaporeans in California are ashamed to be associated with Singapore. Ashamed to be associated with a country listed 148th for lack of press freedom, and listed among countries such as North Korea and Somalia by the respected French organization, Journalists Without Borders. Ashamed to be associated with a country where the Prime Minister and Ministers earn 5 times what George Bush earns, while the lower income class earn less than $300.00 per month. Ashamed to be associated with a country where speaking in public needs a permit, and even if applied for, automatically refused. Ashamed to be associated with a country where not flushing a toilet carries a fine of $100. Ashamed to be associated with a country where you can be imprisoned without trial. Ashamed to be associated with a country where corrupt judges bankrupt opposition politicians. Ashamed to be associated with a country where Lee obtains judgement in defamation legal proceedings against opponents through Order 14 Summary Judgement. Ashamed to be associated with a country where the only answer you will get from anyone on the street to a political question is "No Comment".

This shame that you see in Singaporeans is unique but understandable. There are many other overseas associations of other countries here. There is the British Club with thousands of proud overseas Britons living here. They proudly list their names, their faces and their personal information as proud overseas Englishmen, Scotsmen, Welshmen and Irishmen, proud to be British living in the Bay Area. They are not hiding their faces as those miserable few in the this Singapore organization. And the same with the overseas Australians, the overseas Kiwis, all proud of who they are, with their memberships running into several thousands and proud. While the miserable 128 Singapore members hide their faces with shame.

You see they are ashamed to be associated with a stupid country. So they will not come to dine with the Real Admiral of that country on the 24th of April, 2007 in Redwood City. I reckon, Mr. Roger Liew will have to dine alone with the Admiral and the staff of the Singapore Consulate General, San Francisco.

Since Roger Liew has failed miserably in his attempt to get overseas Singaporeans interested in Singapore, should he not return the money which he has received from the Singapore Treasury to carry out this project.

Roger Liew, look here. How much have you been paid? Please refund the money forthwith. It is taxpayers money. Enough is being wasted on the Minister Mentor and the million dollar ministers. We will not accept this anymore.

Poor Boy. I have seen your Singapore Connection organization. My God, 128 miserable members, ¾ of them hiding their faces and refusing to give their names! Try to get it into you head, please. None is interested in your country. Just like no one is interested in Myanmar. They are ashamed to be associated with an authoritarian dictatorship that imprisons, tortures and bankrupts political dissidents. Tell your Boss Lee. People are ashamed of Singapore. They are ashamed to be associated with it. Tell the Rear Admiral to go home to carry out Lee’s dictates. No one is going to come to your function. By the way, how much has Lee paid you to do this? Please return the people’s money, Singaporean taxpayers money. You are a thief if you keep it. You have failed in your mission.

Look here. My name and address clearly written below. I am not trying to hide. Why are you hiding? Why are the members of your Singapore Connect, all 128 of them, hiding? Why are they ashamed to be identified with Singapore connect? Tell me that, my boy Roger?

Tell the Admiral to go home. And ask him to be careful boarding the gangway to his toy boat. I don’t want him falling into the swamp. He doesn’t seem to have got his sea legs yet.

Redwood City California. Boycott the meeting with Million Dollar Minister (National Service) (Rear Admiral) Lui Tuck Yew on April 24, 2007.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Introduction

One Mr. Roger Liew, I believe a Singaporean living locally here in the San Francisco Bay Area, has sent invitations to Singaporeans and perhaps others, under an organization called "Singapore Connect” including me, to attend a function on April 24, 2007 at the Sofitel (perhaps a restaurant) at 223 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City (a city near San Francisco, not far from where I am).

The function is supposed to be a "buffet reception cum informal dialogue session with the Minister of State for Education, RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew.

For those unfamiliar with Singapore military ranking, RADM means Rear Admiral and NS means this man is still under national service military obligations and he doubles up as an education minister.

Roger Liew I believe is the PAP government's representative in the San Francisco Bay Area who has been commissioned, presumably being paid millions of dollars by the Lee Administration, like the government ministers, to try to stem the growing opposition among Singaporeans overseas against the PAP government by providing free buffet dinners to disgruntled overseas Singaporeans.

My letter is to urge you, Singaporeans, to stay away from this meeting as a sign of protest and boycott against the denial of Singaporeans their human rights and as a protest against the Lee Administration's raising of theirs and their Civil Servants salaries which amounts to daylight robbery of the Singaporeans' hard earned money amounting to embezzlement, no more no less.

Lack of support worldwide among Singaporeans

I can say with confidence that even without this call for a boycott, most overseas Singaporeans stay away from functions organized by the Singapore government abroad, functions such as this, anyway.

I am sure that you are aware of this already.

I have received information that the Singapore governments attempts to get foreign Singaporeans in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Toronto, London and Frankfurt to support the organizations set up there by so called Singapore contact organizations have failed miserably. I have been told that the Singapore organization in Sydney recently only managed to get no more than a handful Singaporeans to attend a function organized by the Singapore consulate there, despite the fact that there are scores of thousands of Singaporeans living in Sydney. It is the same low attendance in all cities throughout the world in Singapore High Commissions Embassies and Consulates functions. In an desperate attempt to get more support from overseas Singaporeans, quite often as you know, the Singapore government uses fronts and outside organizations to conceal the fact that it is in fact a Singapore government function, in the belief that this way, they will be able to get more attendees. But frankly these tricks and clandestine methods to gain the support of overseas Singaporeans does not appear to work.

To put it in a nutshell, most overseas Singaporeans have said good riddance to the Singapore government and to their leader Lee Kuan Yew and his son. Why this dislike for Singapore, which was once their country? The reason should be obvious.

Most Singaporeans who emigrate are highly educated motivated people with a conscience and conviction, talent and ability. They see no need to earn a living under circumstances where one has to live no more than a slave in Singapore and what is worse, having to listen daily to the disgusting pomposity and arrogance of Lee, his son and his chosen ministers, who appear to think that it is they and they alone who have heads on their shoulders and no one else has one.

So overseas Singaporeans stay away. What is more, they feel attending these functions give legitimacy to the banana republic regime of Lee and son. This explains the lack of interest in these functions among overseas Singaporeans. I have heard that the dislike and the disinterest among overseas Singaporeans have reached unprecedented highs lately, especially since the recent announcement of Lee Kuan Yew and his son deciding to corruptly pay themselves salary increases of mind boggling unacceptable levels of several millions of dollars. Overseas Singaporeans particularly find this thoroughly unacceptable since great numbers of Singaporeans live in poverty of, believe it or not, less than $300.00 per month. This has debunked the claim of Lee and his son that Singapore is a first world country when it is just a third world country or a classification one notch further down.

Roger Liew

I had said that this is being organized by Roger Liew through an organization that he has put up called "Singapore Connect". Although he has denied it, Roger Liew is a PAP representative in the San Francisco Bay Area, representing the Lee Administration here and whose job, among others is to inform on the activities and the proclivities of Singaporeans living here and to report on who is in favor and who is against the Lee Regime.

In other words, a PAP mole.

Not wanting to waste his time in investigation, I will tell him right now that 99% of Singaporeans here, including myself, have lost all faith whatsoever in his party and his leaders, Lee Kuan Yew and son. He should report that to his masters. Also you might want to ask him how many million dollars of your taxpayer money is being paid to him to carry out this job, in which he has failed anyway. You might want to ask him to return to you the ill gotten gains, the payment he received from the PAP, in which he has failed.

Minister of State for Education, RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew.

For those unaccustomed to Singapore military personnel, the title of this man, RADM stands for Rear Admiral. But please don't imagine a salty leathery sea dog, a naval officer with extensive naval experience and leadership qualities and great knowledge and experience in the navy. Don’t compare him with an Indian Naval Admiral, or a British or Israeli Naval Officer.

This man is probably bespectacled, bookish and would appear more comfortable behind a desk than on the quarterdeck of a destroyer hanging on the rails with gale force winds blowing across the bow, standing firm and giving the order, all hands on deck and man the guns with enemy over starboard bow.

His only qualifications would be that he has passed all his exams and he is an unwavering supporter of the Fascist Lee regime.

No, this man certainly is not a man of the sea and like his Prime Minster, Mr. Lee who does not inspire any confidence as a politician, neither does he as a seaman.

National Service means that he is still serving national service and doubling up as a Minister for Education for which he is paid one million dollars a year. You can call him a Million Dollar Minister, literally. Why is he a minister?

Well, both himself and his parents from a very young age had decided, quite dishonorably just as all other Singapore PAP politicians, that the surest way to succeed in Singapore without much effort is to pass all your examinations very well and show unwavering allegiance to the Peoples Action Party and to it's leader Lee Kuan Yew, with deliberate sycophancy and absolute loyalty to the Singapore dictatorship of Lee and Son. (Just as Albert Speer showed unwavering loyalty to Adolf Hitler, but I digress)

Lee will, in turn, reward the loyalty with unprecedented huge salaries of millions of dollars. All the applicant has to do is to obey all orders of Lee however dishonest or illegal they may be. This is what this so called Rear Admiral does for his living as a Minister of State under Lee Kuan Yew. This sort of career success by Mr. Lui Tuck Yew shows that neither his parents or himself had much confidence that he could succeed on his own i.e. without the PAP as a crutch.

Many other Singapore parents who have a sense of integrity, pride and conviction have refused to accept government scholarships even though they were offered them because they did not want their sons and daughters to have to serve a regime that is seen a pariah among other democratic countries of the world, for denying their people free speech, expression and where political opponents are jailed and bankrupted. Their children have gone on to succeed independently on their own right, independent of the PAP government.

It would appear that neither Mr. Lui Tuck Yew or his parents have those high ideals of integrity and he can only succeed in earning his millions by playing double fiddle for Lee and his son.

So I call all of you Singaporeans who have been extended invitations for this Singapore government function to tell Mr. Lui that he can enjoy the buffet himself with Mr. Roger Liew and the San Francisco Singapore Consulate staff themselves. Afterall, birds of a feather flock together.

We self respecting Singaporeans with a spine on our backs and a head on our shoulders boycott the Real Admiral's function.

We boycott the function to show our protest against the universally unacceptable salary increases that they pay themselves.

We boycott and Protest.

We shall not attend your function.

Thanks But No Thanks.

How Lee stays in power. He has made you an offer you cannot refuse.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please recall the Singapore media report not too long ago when Lee said he has arranged the political system such a way, that it will be silly for the people to vote for anyone else. This is how he does it.

First, he gets absolute loyalty from the judges, top civil servants and leaders of all organs of power. Do you recall the "Godfather" movie when one Mafia gangster forces a rival to sign a contract with a gun pointed to his head, saying "let me make you an offer you cannot refuse". Well Lee has made these judges and heads of all departments "an offer they cannot refuse", this time, not by pointing a gun at their heads, but by paying very large salaries, which most people who lack principals would find it hard to refuse.

Second, with the heads of media and police, again bribed by him with astronomical salaries, he makes sure that any honest opposition politician is promptly removed with defamation actions.

In this sort of a situation, where the public have no real choice among the PAP politicians and the opposition, since the opposition is already silenced, what choice have they but to vote for the PAP?

So Lee has once again made "an offer to the people, they cannot refuse".

Now a stage has finally reached, where he considers you, the people totally irrelevant in running the country. No politician in any democracy will dare to pay themselves millions of dollars when the bottom poor do not even have $300.00 per month to live on. With suicides up. Unemployment up. Emigration up. Birth rate down. Yet in these difficult circumstances for the people, he is not only going to continue taking millions of dollars in pay, but actually going to increase his and his Ministers salaries to even more millions.

You must now realize this. He doesn't care what you think. He will do whatever he wants. That is why I say that you must protest, since not doing anything in these circumstances is to submissively accept anything that he may wish to throw at you.

Now is the time. Protest the impending obscene salary raize. Seize the day. The country is yours.

Singapore. Let us not be under any illusions.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let us not be under any illusions. Please be forewarned. Lee has said this more than once. If there is a freak election, he will deploy the army to keep himself in power. By the way, to those uninitiated in Singaporean affairs, a "freak" election in Lee's eyes is one in which he lost. Although he has not said so, it can be implied by his language that he will not hesitate to stuff the ballot boxes to make sure he wins, if that is necessary.

I say this now, because there is a lot of talk in the Internet suggesting that the people should vote for the opposition in the next elections, since we can now see, with the salary increases for the Ministers, how bad the present government is. Please, do not raise your hopes. Even if all of you vote the opposition, the PAP will still retain power. That is what is written. That is what will be done. Bad news.

There is good news for the WP, SDA and Sylvia Lim. They will all be returned as MPs in the next election. They are Lee's chosen opposition. They serve Lee's purpose of showing the world, window dressing, that Singapore has an opposition. They on their part will ask harmless questions. They will be promptly defeated in their arguments by the 82 PAP yes-men MPs. Syvia Lim will make some more profound lectures on the Singapore Penal Code. At the end, the WP, SDA and Cynthia Lim will go home after a hard day's speaking. The sun will rise again tomorrow and Lee Kuan Yew and his son will still take their salaries of $10 million. And it will be back to square one again. This is the boring truth.

The only way is to change Singapore, where the power belongs to you, is to follow what Dr. Chee's says. You have to protest. You have to show Lee and the world that you will not tolerate the absence of freedom of speech, you demand the right to expression, you demand the right to peaceful protest, you demand an independent media, you demand your rights.

Unless you do this, Lee will continue to treat you as if you were irrelevant. If you are happy to live that way, neither I nor anyone else can quarrel with that.

Singapore. How Lee manages to stay in power.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is how I see Lee manages to stay in power. First, he completely destroys any credible opposition. This serves a two fold purpose. First, the opposition that opposed him is destroyed eg by defamation actions. Second, this destruction sends a chilling message to all others never to try any challenge against him. This way, anyone with any desire to serve his country is dissuaded. This leaves only Lee Kuan Yew and the PAP ruling the country.

For political office, you need experience. The only ones getting political experience is Lee Kuan Yew, his family and the PAP. No one else can can get any, because Lee destroys them. This leaves any possible opposition, completely without any political experience at all.

When it comes to elections, Singaporeans even though they dislike Lee and his authoritarianism, would still vote for him and the PAP because the PAP has experience in government, and the opposition hasn't. So to protect their security and their future, they are compelled to vote for the PAP even though many have a deep distaste for them. This is like a child respecting a schoolmaster even though the child hates him, since the child knows that the dreaded homework that he has to do is good for him. A love hate relationship, you may say.

And the longer and longer Lee stays in power without any check on his actions, he gets emboldened. He begins, like he does now, to take his people for granted. It can be clearly seen by his actions now. He has reached a stage where he has enslaved the entire population. He is fully confident, now that no matter what he does, how outrageous it may be, there will be no opposition to him at all. To Lee, the peoples wishes have become totally irrelevant now. He can do whatever he wants. The people have been thoroughly neutered.

This is seen very well in his action to raise his, his son's and the ministers salaries to unacceptable levels, despite the fact that he knows, every living Singaporean is opposed to it. He is aware that there will be grumbling in the Internet. But beyond that, he knows that he has so thoroughly, so completely weakened the will of the people that they will not go beyond writing on the Internet. He knows that the people have become so consumed through fear that have lost the ability to protest.

What then happens is that many, who feel outraged by this dictatorial rule, just leave the country. This causes the very able, the skilled, the educated, the very ones who need to be in Singapore to lead, to leave it's shores. But Lee couldn't care less. He brings in foreigners to fill the places. This is a net loss to Singapore. The brain drain.

Of course Lee can say anything he wants and all of it will be published in the state controlled press. So he comes up with complete nonsense. He says that skilled foreigners are coming in to the country because they like Singapore. But we all know the type of foreigners that come. These are not the best. They are people who have already heard what Singapore is. Nothing more than a tiny island where there is no democracy, no freedom, no fundamental rights. But they may come for the money temporarily. And then they too will go home to their own countries. And when they do, they go away with an even worse impression of Singapore, only to warn others in their country about the real Singapore, a tyrannical Signapore. They too know that all that glitters is not necessarily gold.

And after saying all this, I say that the fault is yours. It is you who is being trodden upon. It is you who is afraid. It is you who cowardly accept this dictator without protest. Singapore is being destroyed by this one man, Lee. And if you do nothing to stop it, surely, can we assume that you are prepared to live the submissive lives that you now lead.

So then, if you are not prepared to do anything positive, other than just writing letters on the Internet, you shouldn't be complaining about the slavish lives that you lead.

I have said this before. Lee is as afraid of you as you are of him, if not more. The worst thing he fears is a public protest. He has given you enough ammunition, in the threatening to raise his salary to universally unacceptable levels, for you now to take to the streets and say enough is enough. We will not take this anymore.

If you did that, the world will have some respect for Singaporeans. Now at present, Singaporeans are thought of as nothing more than sheep.

Singapore. My letter to Robert V Chandran, the Indian millionaire with American citizenship who is reported to have taken Singapore citizenship?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The following is my letter to Robert V Chandran the millionaire who has taken Singapore citizenship. He is said to have also US Citizenship. Question here is, is he still an American Citizen. I thought Singapore does not allow dual nationality. Is the law of nationality in Singapore being bent for millionaires? Or has he really handed in his US Passport to the US Embassy Singapore? Questions you may wish to ask him.

In this letter to Mr. Chandran, I have made references to the Philippines. This is because he spent 2 years or so, in the Phillipines at a university there. You can check his background on his company's website. Mr. Chandran understands the Philippines very well.

And so do I, having been to Philippines on multiple occasions on legal work for my clients here in the US, who are Philippines nationals.

I have read your deciding to take Singapore citizenship and to live in Singapore. Perhaps you do not know what Singapore really is. It is not a democracy like the Philippines. I left Singapore to avoid the persecution and repression against me just because I was an active member of the opposition party there. Just like me, thousands of others who cherish freedom have left it’s shores made bankrupt like Mr. JB Jeyaretnam, whom I am sure by now you know. In an nutshell, Singapore’s judiciary is corrupt, it is a fascist state with Lee Kuan Yew the sole dictator, the unions are powerless, education is warped so as not to allow students to know their rights, no freedom of speech or expression or freedom of the press unlike the Philippines.

Singapore is not a major trading nation. 70% of the trading is done by the government or government linked companies. The average man there is devoid of any entrepreneur spirit.

The only way to succeed in Singapore is to obey Lee. Many find that unacceptable and leave it’s shores.

I have read a little of your biography. I think you have made a bad choice in selecting Singapore. By doing so you are giving legitimacy to a fascist intolerant dictatorship.

And by the way, Singapore does not permit dual citizenship. If you have adopted Singapore citizenship, under Singapore law you have to relinquish US Citizenship. Have you done that? Or has the Singapore government again corruptly broken the laws for their convenience. If so is Singapore a banana republic? If not what is it?

If that is in fact your name. For the umpteenth time, there are many ways to change political regimes. It can be done from within your country and without from overseas. Everyone can contribute to the progress of democracy in Singapore. I can do it from here, or one can do it from Toa Payoh in Singapore. So stop asking me to go back to challenge Lee. It can be done in more ways than one. I am surprised you do not know this.

Thank you for your Email. At present, even I if I wanted to return to Singapore to fight the tyranny, I cannot. I came to the US in 1992 and I am now an American citizen. At the time I took American citizenship, my CPF money was being held in Singapore. It was totally unacceptable for them to hold my money, even though I already had a US green Card and I was living in the US permanently. Third point, I already now have a legal practice and clients in the US. It would have been unacceptable for me to abandon them and leave for Singapore or any other country. So, Mr. Leong, if that in fact is your true name, in issues such as this, there has to be some balancing done. And one has to do what is right. What was right was for me to remain in California and attend to my clients to whom I owe a responsibility.

Secondly, I can do even more good for the opposition from the USA than had I been in Singapore. I am protected by the American constitution. I can say what I want and still remain financially and bodily intact. And furthermore, with the Internet, I can do almost the same amount of harm to Lee and his family, just as I had been in Singapore.

I notice that you are not allowing me to disseminate your correspondence. Why is that? Are you afraid? I suggest, if you are afraid, you should not be engaging in expressing any political opinion, unless it is praise for Lee Kuan Yew.
