I told you so.
Singapore's official government propoganda mouthpiece, the Straits Times online edition of March 4, 2010 has the article "Budget debate. 540 retired civil servants rehired."
No one is surprised with this news of course. The rot is showing. Lee Kuan Yew's civil servants are resigning en masse. They are refusing to take anymore of Lee Kuan Yew's high handed nonsence. They want out.
The civil service is losing staff at an alarming rate, and this is affecting their ability to function. Younger Singaporeans are refusing to enter a service which they see as politically corrupt, no longer independent and an organization which Lee uses as a weapon to destroy his political opponents.
It has simply got a bad name. And no one wants to have anything to do with it. Which leaves the government in a state of desperation, which therefore requires desperate measures.
Which is, to rely on old tottering half deaf and blind retirees from the Singapore Civil Service, who have no other choice for one reason or another but to return to working in the Service.
These old folks are past their prime, weak in body and spirit and best left alone to enjoy their retirement. They are not much good for anything else. But because of Lee's having misplaced his judgement somewhere a long time ago, the situation has descended to this state, requiring the re-employment of these old men to do whatever little they can.
You can see, I hope, that the rot is showing. The Lee Kuan Yew edifice is crumbling. The children of these old men perhaps have all left Singapore anyway and are now living in Australia.
The truth is, there are hardly any qualified people left in Lee Kuan Yew's island and Mainland Chinese human imports without any English are simply not suitable.
Lee Kuan Yew and his island are now in real trouble. Not enough skilled people. Everone wants out.
I can only say, I told you so.

Singapore politicians meaningless words
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Singapore official state controlled newspaper online edition of March 3, 2010 has this story "Budget debate. Ideas on raising productivity".
And as expected of these Lee Kuan Yew Singaporean handpicked millionaire ministers, it turned out to be just another case of hollow meaningless words, nothing more than that.
If there is a medal for the most boring propaganda sheet in the world, it has to go to Singapore's press. One gets tired of hearing these unqualified, incompetent inexperienced people lecturing us on how to live our lives while their only qualification is constant grovelling before their Dear Leader.
The story says "a new council will be set up to make Singaporeans more innovative and productive", "they had several ways to help white collar workers", "they will spend more on research to turn small and medium sized industries to go global and become giants", etcetra etcetra ad nausium.
But you know what, the entire story did not have even a single actual plan to carry it out.
If that is all what this Singaporean state controlled newspaper intended to say, why say it at all, since there is nothing there!
And why waste the readers time to have to read it!
Let me tell you this much. Singapore's productivity is doomed to continue falling and that is simply unavoidable.
It is impossible to raise workers productivity in the island simply because the workers have no incentive to do it.
You can only increase productivity by giving workers an incentive to do so, an chance for a better opportunity, a chance to better themselves, a chance to make a meaningful career with prospects. If not, no one would want to work harder simply because some half witted million dollar minister, a Lee Kuan Yew toady tells you so.
Here is the problem. If you pay a waiter $1,000.00 a month and his prospects for advancement are zero, he is not going to work harder or better at his job, simply because there is no reason to.
On the other hand, if you have a system where he can make tips over his salary, being pleasant can help to boost your wages.
At the same time, if evening classes are available for him at no expense to him to learn to be a pilot, a doctor or a marine biologist, he might be a pleasanter and better human being as well as a waiter.
Why, because he has hope. In Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore of today where he has no hope whatsoever other than either being a waiter for $1,000.00 or a taxi driver for the same amount, he will continue to be just a low productivity worker in both cases.
In fact, he will continue as a low productivity worker all his life. This man has no prospects whatsoever to better himself. He is simply in a rut, created by Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore.

Singapore. A lesson to resist Lee Kuan Yew
Ladies and Gentlemen,
What Singaporeans need to do to resist the tyranny of Lee's PAP? They have to understand the game should be played according to fair and equal rules, not the one sided ones imposed by Lee Kuan Yew.
The way to challenge this despotic regime should be to simply disobey laws that are designed to keep you down. This is the only way.
Note the following.
1. If you want to spread your message through publicly distributing leaflets, you should simply do it, despite the unjust Singapore laws that require permits. Break the law. You are within your rights.
2. If you want to attract pubic opinion by peaceful demonstrations, you should do it without permits. The law requiring permits is unconstitutional and a violation of the freedom of speech clause.
3. If you want to stick posters in public places without damaging any property, you should do it. It is a right under the freedom of expression clause of the constitution.
4. If you want to be financed through foreign funds, you should accept it, as there is nothing illegal in using donations, including foreign ones.
5. If you want to demonstrate peacefully against government policies such as the foreign talent, you should do it without a permit, as this is constitutional under the freedom of assembly clause.
6. If you are unhappy about Lee Kuan Yew's salary of $3.7 million a year and consider it theft, you should peacefully protest without fear. Remember, it is your constitutional right.
7. You should not be afraid to say what you want and do what you want, as long it is your legal right as an individual.
8. If you want to call Lee a thief, do it. It is your right.
9. You should not be afraid of arrest since since it is the only lame tool that Lee Kuan Yew uses to silence and intimidate you.
10. In other words, whenever you are faced with a question, ask yourself whether it is right. Not whether Lee Kuan Yew requires you you to have a permit.
11. Break the law if it is just. Obeying unjust laws only keeps you down.

Singapore's Attorney General Walter Woon Seong Ming removed from his post.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Singapore's state controlled newspaper Straits Times online edition of March 05, 2010has this story "Back to NUS law School".
It is the story of Singapore's Attorney General Walter Woon Seong Ming, Lee Kuan Yew's Attorney General who was until recently terrorizing his master's (Lee's) political opponents by misusing the law, jailing and bankrupting them in his master's corrupt courts to shamelessly further his own career.
He was only appointed Attorney General within the last 2 years, yet in this time, he had sued the Wall Street Journal, the Far eastern Economic Review and numerous other respected international newspapers the moment they uttered anything unflattering about his master.
During his disgraceful 2 years in office, he shamelessly licked his master's (Singapore Lee Kuan Yew's) boots.
Shameless boot licking was what was going on.
One would have thought such shameless unbounded flattery and obedience to his master would have helped him further his career.
Instead of appreciating this pathetic individual, Singapore's supreme leader Lee Kuan Yew, the Singapore equivalent of Dear Leader Kim Jong Il, was unappreciative.
Instead, he kicks Attorney General Woon Siong Ming and removes him from his Attorney General post.
One can understand why of course.
Singapore is today an international city state with Internet connection throughout the island.
If you blatantly misuse the law like Walter Woon Seong Ming did, it brings a bad name to the island and shows it as a repressive intolerant Stalinist state.
Such as bad name is not conducive to Singapore's advancement.
Walter Woon Seong Ming should have had the brains to have realized this.
Since he did not have it, Lee Kuan Yew decided it best to remove him from his post.
Can anyone blame Lee Kuan Yew in these circumstances?
Poor man, Walter Woon Seong Ming, the Attorney General.
Henceforth he will be quietly teaching the law in some classroom, in obscurity, and no one will hear any more of him.
This is what happens when you blindly follow a despot, because the despot can behave in an unexpected way.

A note to poor Singapore Attorney General Walter Woon Cheong Ming, put out to grass.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Let me send my last blog post "Gopalan Nair. A stock taking" to our dear Attorney General Walter Woon Cheong Ming who has been asked to leave his post. I think he needs to understand what he is doing. He obviously thinks all this beating up of Lee Kuan Yew's political opponents to please his master is the best way to the top.
But as you see now, his master may have expected him to use his head for a change. He has hurt his victims Dr. Chee Soon Juan and myself it is true. But my dear Woon, you have hurt Singapore even more. And your master Lee is now displeased. And that is why you are out of your job.
You are a miserable man indeed. After all that crawling and bootlicking the Dear Leader Lee Kuan Yew, you have been kicked!

I have since about 1984 while a member of Singapore Workers Party in Singapore up till now in California, have been engaged in speaking for the rights of Singaporeans.
For this earlier in Singapore, I was fined twice and suspended from practicing law.
After coming to the US I continued my criticism of Singapore's government in this blog and in 2008 I was imprisoned in Singapore for 2 months.
Very soon they will be striking me off the Singapore's roll of lawyers.
The question is, has it done any good? And the answer has to be a resounding yes.
You see Lee's idea was to punish me publicly and identify me prominently in Singapore's state controlled press as a bad character and a menace to Singapore, in the hope that Singaporeans would believe it and they will be intimidated sufficiently not to ever challenge his government.
But there is a serious mistake in this belief. Yes, it is true that many Singaporeans would be intimidated and cowed into silence and obedience. But on the other hand, you also end up with vast numbers of able and capable Singaporeans being disgusted with this oppression and repression resulting in their either leaving Singapore permanently or refusing to co-operate with this regime.
You see, unjustly punishing political opponents is a double edged sword. Although it may hurt your victim, it has a bad habit of hurting you even more.
In fact during the many years I was in Singapore, the numerous politically motivated charges and punishments I faced caused numerous lawyers to either give up the practice of law or emigrate.
Every victim of Lee Kuan Yew's high handedness, such as JB Jeyaretnam, Dr. Chee Soon Juan, Tang Liang Hong and numerous others had the same effect on the people. Many were intimidated into silence. Many others left the island disgusted with Lee Kuan Yew and his corruption of power.
In 2008, when I was arrested in Singapore, once again there were those who were terrified and silenced. Others left the country. Many others came to the opposition political parties wanting to help.
Today, the Singapore legal profession has no more than 3500 or so lawyers. This number is completely inadequate for a island of 5 million people. In spite of every effort to increase the number of lawyers by the government, Singaporeans simply continue to shun the profession.
I take some credit for the lack of interest in lawyering in Singapore by my open criticism of the Singapore government publicising their injustice.
As well as the almost dead Singapore legal profession, every major organ of government is finding it hard to attract applicants and those in it are leaving in numbers which the government find impossible to replace.
The police force, the civil service, the government legal service all have this perennial problem of insufficient staff making them have to lower and lower their standards to scrape the barrel for applicants.
In order not to alarm the population, the state controlled newspapers do not publish this news but is a fact well known in the island.
Tody Singapore Dissident is being read not only by ordinary Singaporeans, it is read by foreign diplomatic posts in Singapore who report on Singapore affairs to their countries, by foreign universities, by readers all over the world who have an interest in Singapore.
My arrest and detention suddenly made this blog famous.
Very soon I will be disbarred from practicing law in Singapore. Any observer of Singapore, watching what has been happening will see that these proceedings as patently unjustified. No disciplinary proceedings should have been commenced, let alone disbarment.
My removal from Singapore's list of lawyers will give me another valuable opportunity to expose these abuses of due process in the island city state. And I am sure, it will cause yet again a disgust in the minds of the ordinary man, both in Singapore and abroad for this persecution.
Although I may be disbarred, Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore will have to pay a much higher price in the conscience of the world.
My work in this blog, just as others who write about this political repression in Singapore, help in increasing awareness among Singaporeans and the public at large that there is something patently wrong in the island and that something has to be done to bring about change.
To that view, one can only thank Lee Kuan Yew and his government for giving me this opportunity to expose them.

Gopalan Nair. A stock taking.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have since about 1984 while a member of Singapore Workers Party in Singapore up till now in California, have been engaged in speaking for the rights of Singaporeans.
For this earlier in Singapore, I was fined twice and suspended from practicing law.
After coming to the US I continued my criticism of Singapore's government in this blog and in 2008 I was imprisoned in Singapore for 2 months.
Very soon they will be striking me off the Singapore's roll of lawyers.
The question is, has it done any good? And the answer has to be a resounding yes.
You see Lee's idea was to punish me publicly and identify me prominently in Singapore's state controlled press as a bad character and a menace to Singapore, in the hope that Singaporeans would believe it and they will be intimidated sufficiently not to ever challenge his government.
But there is a serious mistake in this belief. Yes, it is true that many Singaporeans would be intimidated and cowed into silence and obedience. But on the other hand, you also end up with vast numbers of able and capable Singaporeans being disgusted with this oppression and repression resulting in their either leaving Singapore permanently or refusing to co-operate with this regime.
You see, unjustly punishing political opponents is a double edged sword. Although it may hurt your victim, it has a bad habit of hurting you even more.
In fact during the many years I was in Singapore, the numerous politically motivated charges and punishments I faced caused numerous lawyers to either give up the practice of law or emigrate.
Every victim of Lee Kuan Yew's high handedness, such as JB Jeyaretnam, Dr. Chee Soon Juan, Tang Liang Hong and numerous others had the same effect on the people. Many were intimidated into silence. Many others left the island disgusted with Lee Kuan Yew and his corruption of power.
In 2008, when I was arrested in Singapore, once again there were those who were terrified and silenced. Others left the country. Many others came to the opposition political parties wanting to help.
Today, the Singapore legal profession has no more than 3500 or so lawyers. This number is completely inadequate for a island of 5 million people. In spite of every effort to increase the number of lawyers by the government, Singaporeans simply continue to shun the profession.
I take some credit for the lack of interest in lawyering in Singapore by my open criticism of the Singapore government publicising their injustice.
As well as the almost dead Singapore legal profession, every major organ of government is finding it hard to attract applicants and those in it are leaving in numbers which the government find impossible to replace.
The police force, the civil service, the government legal service all have this perennial problem of insufficient staff making them have to lower and lower their standards to scrape the barrel for applicants.
In order not to alarm the population, the state controlled newspapers do not publish this news but is a fact well known in the island.
Tody Singapore Dissident is being read not only by ordinary Singaporeans, it is read by foreign diplomatic posts in Singapore who report on Singapore affairs to their countries, by foreign universities, by readers all over the world who have an interest in Singapore.
My arrest and detention suddenly made this blog famous.
Very soon I will be disbarred from practicing law in Singapore. Any observer of Singapore, watching what has been happening will see that these proceedings as patently unjustified. No disciplinary proceedings should have been commenced, let alone disbarment.
My removal from Singapore's list of lawyers will give me another valuable opportunity to expose these abuses of due process in the island city state. And I am sure, it will cause yet again a disgust in the minds of the ordinary man, both in Singapore and abroad for this persecution.
Although I may be disbarred, Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore will have to pay a much higher price in the conscience of the world.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
In the Singapore’s disciplinary proceedings against me in the island city state, the tribunal had ordered the parties, the Singaporean Law Society and me, to file and hand to the other, the list of documents which either party intends to use by Feb 26, 2010.
Yesterday, after the dateline, I received in the mail Singapore Law Society’s List filed by his lawyer.
The following is the list

A. MAC 3211 of 2008 and MAC 3212 of 2008
1. July 24 2008 Notes of Evidence and 2) Oct 24, 2008, Public Prosecutor v Gopalan Nair (2008) SGDC 313.
(All the Law Society has done is merely to state this. They have not provided me with the notes of evidence or this case of Public Prosecutor v Gopalan Nair (2008) SGDC 313, that they are referring to.
It remains the duty of the Tribunal to ensure that the Defendant is provided with all the evidence they intend to rely on.
In Singapore style "rule of law" it appears they have no obligation to provide any of this evidence to the Defendant.
However it is not my intention to tell the Law Society of Singapore how they conduct these proceedings
It is sufficient that through this blog, the public is watching what they do and what amount of credibility they give to these proceeding).
B. Criminal Case No: 23 0f 2008.
3. 8-17 Sept of 2008. Notes of Evidence
(This refers to the court transcripts in the High Court case of 2008 before Lee Kuan Yew's judge Kan Teng Chiu who found me guilty of "insulting" Judge Belinda Ang Saw Ean for writing in this blog that she had "prostituted herself as a judge in the Lee Kuan Yew vs Dr. Chee Soon Juan case" in my blog post "Singapore. Judge Belinda Ang's Kangaroo Court" of May 29, 2008.
Although I had asked them repeatedly, the Tribunal has refused to supply me with these notes of evidence or the audio recordings of the testimony.
They have however informed me that I could employ a courier from the USA and obtain the transcripts in Singapore (but not the audio recordings) at my own expense.
I have not done this because I maintain it is the Tribunal's duty to supply this and every other evidence they intend to rely on at trial at their expense, not mine.
Second, I have a strong suspicion of their tampering with the evidence and change what was said to suit their purpose through forgeries and changes.
As you are aware, while in Singapore, even though I did not send any Emails to any judges about my blog, after my arrest, I was kept in solitary confinement in Singapore Central Police Station for over 8 days and interrogated several times day and night to force a confession that I had sent Emails to Singapore judges and others with fake Emails with my name on them.
These fake Emails were probably created by the Singapore police themselves after they had discovered my email password from the belongings they seized from my Singapore hotel room.
Lee Kuan Yew has over the years brazenly and shamelessly used the same dirty tactics against the political opposition such as JB Jeyaretnam by distorting the law and evidence to secure convictions.
In these circumstances, it is impossible to trust the veracity of any of these documents supplied by Lee Kuan Yew's courts and I shall not be relying on them as they are likely to be tampered with.
In any case, these transcripts and notes are not material to these proceedings since the facts are not in issue, the only one being whether my blog post of May 29, 2008 was unethical, subject to discipline and disbarment.)
C. Originating Summons No: 385 of 2008/P
(I believe this is the contempt of court proceedings brought against me while I was in a Singapore prison and scheduled to be released on Nov 20, 2008.
These proceedings were brought in relation to what I had said in my trial of July 2008 for allegedly being "disorderly" and for having shouted at Lee Kuan Yew's police officers along a street on July 4, 2008, American Independence Day.
This trial was already over and I had already paid the fine of $3,000.00.
Now, much later in November 2008, while I was in a Singapore prison, the Attorney General was charging me for contempt of court for allegedly making statements in my July 2008 trial such as "I have no faith in the impartiality of this court" and "this is a politically motivated trial". I admit having said these words in court because this trial was a politically motivated trial.)

In any case, none of this is relevant as the facts are not in dispute which are, that I did write my blog posts accusing Belinda Ang Saw Ean and Judith Prakash, that I did give my undertakings and make my apologies to the Singapore court in my contempt trial, that I did withdraw my assurances given to the Singapore court after my return to the US, that I deny ever being disorderly or yelling at police officers but I was convicted in a Singapore court nevertheless.
Although these newspaper reports are not material, as the Law Society has referred to them, it is their duty to provide them, which they are not doing.
Not wanting to spend any more time than necessary, I am sending this blog post to Singapore Law Society’s lawyer by Email at "peterlow@cnplaw.com" who had sent this list of documents to me.
He should be able to read my objections in it, and let us hope that he will take the necessary steps to correct them.
My prediction is that he will he will do nothing since Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore does not appear to care what others think of their legal system. According to them, it is, after all, the "best in the world").
